Don't drag TDP into CM succession issue: TDP

Hyderabad,Sep 21:- The main opposition Telugu Desam Party today asked State Congress leaders not to drag the party into the issue of finding a successor to late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as it was purely an internal matter of the Congress.

Addressing a press conference here, senior TDP leaders K Yerran Naidu and N Janardhan Reddy took strong objection to the allegation by some State Congress leaders that the TDP was eagerly waiting for mid-term polls in the State and said this only exposed the ''political bankruptcy'' of the ruling party. ''Don't drag the TDP into Congress internal wrangles. We are least bothered as to who should occupy the Chief Minister's chair in the present situation,'' they said.

Stating that the political vaccum in Andhra Pradesh was affecting the state very much, the TDP leaders said the state ministers were duty-bound to fulfill their ministerial responsibilities, finding solutions to people's problems, instead of concentrating on ''power politics.'' They urged the ruling partymen to immediately fill the ''political vaccum'' and concentrate on resolving people's burning issues, including drought, swine flu and price rise, instead of keeping themselves busy in ''power politics.'' Dr Janardhan Reddy denied the charge of some state ministers that the TDP was allegedly wrecking the chances of the late Chief Minister's son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to become the Chief Minister.
