I’m looking for roles of substance: Colors Swathi
Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:08 PM
Vivacious Swathi seems overcome after winning the best actor (female) award at the 56th Idea Filmfare South for her performance in Ashta Chamma.
Even as congratulatory calls and messages pour in, she says like a true professional, “I am done with appreciation and I intend to return with a better performance.” Swathi also likes to be ‘grounded’ rather than get “carried away” by her newfound success. She feels proud that a Telugu girl has bagged an award for a Telugu film and quips, “it feels nice na,”. On one hand, she is riding high on big appreciation, on the other she also has to contend with a dud like Kalavaramaye Madilo. Again, she won laurels for her performance but the musical bombed at the BO. “It’s a pity that my performance is being appreciated but the film is not doing well. I am proud to be associated with such a wholesome entertainer
but I feel we should have publicised the film better,” she avers. Does the award mean more responsibility for her as an actress? “I am definitely looking out for meaty roles, so I haven’t signed any new Telugu films yet,” she reasons.
Swathi has become a house-hold name in Kollywood, post-Subramaniapuram and claims to have received plenty of offers. “I have signed one Tamil film and I am essaying a significant role in it,” she informs. Interestingly, at the Filmfare Awards function, she shared the stage with the team of Subramniapuram when they won the best Tamil film award. Would she have been more satisfied if she bagged the best actor (female) award for the Tamil film Subramaniapuram instead of Ashta Chamma? “I don’t think so, although many colleagues asked me the same,” she reveals and adds “doing a comic role is a tough job, but essaying a light-hearted role is challenging too. I wanted to change the perception that only serious films fetch you awards and honours. I’m glad I have been able to do that,” she says.
Off-screen, like any other youngster, Swathi loves to watch TV, shop and spend quality with family and friends. “I have full support of my family in all my endeavours,” she reiterates. A typical homely girl, who rarely parties or pubs, Swathi says she’s “happy” with her disciplined lifestyle.
After Pawan, it is Nagachaithanya.

Nagachaithnya's debut film Josh is yet to hit the screens, on the other hand his second film is getting ready to go on sets. This is going to be a very big budget film. Manjula (Mahesh Babu's sister) is producing the film. Goutham Menon is the director. AR Raheman will tune the music.
AR Raheman is composing the music for Pawan's Komaram Puli, after that film, he will tune the music for Nagachaithanya's film.
Manjula is trying to rope a Bollywood heroine for this film. Genelia was considered for female lead opposite Chaithu, but she couldn't adjust her dates for Chaithu.

'Magadheera' Rules
Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:05 PM
The time has come to talk about what is happening at the box office and it must be said that the entire talk and mania right now is about ‘Magadheera’. The film has managed to create a tremendous talk among the audience and it has been romping its way through.
Then there is ‘Gopi Gopika Godavari’ which is still finding its audience although in scanty. The film to clash with ‘Magadheera’ happened to be ‘Jallu’ which seems to have got zero response.
Siddarth’s ‘Oy’ got feeble at box office while Chinna’s ‘Aa Intlo’ is finding no audience. Overall, it has been a completely dominated week by ‘Magadheera’ and the situation looks to be the same until another big banner film arrives.
'Magadheera' Straightly Copied From 'Chanderi'
Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:04 PM
SP Chari, the novelist who penned the novel Chanderi claims that the movie Magadheera was straight away copied from his novel that was written in 1998 and also appeared as serial in Andhra Bhoomi.
Chary was an ECIL employee earlier. He said that the movie comprises everything what he has written with very minor changes in character names Haradaul to Harsha and Indumathi to Indu.
He also said that the story in Chanderi is about two lovers jumping into well and committing suicide 400 years ago in Orcha Kingdom of Madhya Pradesh. They reincarnate after 400 years to get married. The villain in Chanderi is hero’s own brother but here in Magadheera he was heroine’s cousin. Rest of the story is as it was in Chanderi, says Chary
Chary said that he lodged a complaint in Film Chamber but no response was received so far. He also tried to contact Geeta Arts but they refused to talk to him. Chary says that he would go to court and lodge a complaint under copyright infringement if Allu Aravind wouldn’t give credit for him. The story writer is mentioned as Vijayayendra Prasad, the father of SS Rajamouli.
