More sleaze on display

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On Friday, September 18, 2009 at 5:27 PM

What with shows like Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao showing high TRPratings thanks to some sleaze and sexy display of skin in them, more and more TV programs are depending on sleaze to get better viewership.

In this effort sex models are being roped in for reality shows. Big Boss3 has plans to include the likes of Sherilyn Chopra and Claudia Cieisla in their show. The reasons for this being obvious. Incidentally this show is being hosted by Amiatbh Bachchan.

More Sleaze means more TRP's, who wouldn't want to adopt this easy way to pocket a few dollars more!

Madhuri scores over Aishwarya

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 5:26 PM

Madhuri Dixit was chosen over a pricey Aishwarya Rai to judge a dance reality show...

It was a battle between two very popular actresses, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in which the former has emerged a winner. Madhuri has joined several Bollywood stars to judge the reality show, Dance Premier League. Our source associated with the show said, “Madhuri and Aishwarya were both being considered to be the judge for one of the teams. Aishwarya lost out to Madhuri as she quoted an exorbitant amount of money. The makers of the show couldn’t afford her and the scales tipped in Madhuri’s favour as she had demanded an affordable price.”

Madhuri’s manager Riku Rakesh Nath said he could not reveal any details at this stage and said, “The discussion is still on.”

However, Danish Khan, VP Marketing of the channel admitted, “Yes, Madhuri has been chosen to represent one of the teams.” He refused to comment on the reason why Aishwarya lost out to Madhuri and said, “I don’t want to talk abut the money involved but Madhuri is definitely on board for Dance Premier League.”

Our source said, “Madhuri was far more affordable is the reason why Aishwarya lost out on the show.”

Constables freed from washing clothes

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 5:24 PM

The Andhra Pradesh government Thursday abolished the orderly system, a demeaning colonial practice of engaging police constables and home guards as domestic servants at the homes of senior police officers.
The government has issued an order, doing away with the orderly system that is prevalent in the police department.

The latest move came in the wake of death of a constable, P. Muralinath, under mysterious circumstances while on duty July 29 in Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The armed reserve constable was deputed to work as orderly at the Noida residence of additional Director General of Police Vivek Dubey who is the chief of OCTOPUS, an anti-terrorist force of the state police.

As the constable’s death exposed the feudal system and evokedpublic outrage, the state government constituted a high-level, three-member committee, headed by Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy, to probe the matter.

The committee which submitted its report early last monthrecommended scrapping the orderly system and replacing them with helpers, to be recruited separately, for posting at the residences of senior police officers.

The government Aug 25 also suspended Dubey and Abraham Lincoln, both senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, holding them ‘indirectly responsible’ for the suspicious death of the constable. Lincoln, working as Commandant, Special Armed Reserve, had sent the constable to Noida in Uttar Pradesh 'without competence', the government said.

It is estimated that over 15,000 constables work as orderlies at the homes of senior police officials in the state. In most cases, they end up working as drivers, cooks and gardeners and silently suffer the humiliation.

A clause in the Andhra Pradesh Police Manual allows IPS officers to engage constables and head constables to assist them. But, in practice, it is misused by most senior officers. The state has nearly one lakh strong police force, out of which 800 are top-rank officers, including over 200 IPS officers.

The orderly system was first introduced during British rule in 1861. In the absence of communication facilities at that time, the idea was to ensure that the services of policemen were available for the officer to act quickly in case of any law and order problem.

It is common or rather customary for every actor or actress to have fan-following to certain extent. It is well known that top heroes and heroines have their fans associations almost in every village. We have also heard many things about fans associations of heroes. But did you ever heard of anyone saying no to fans associations? Anushka, the heroine who started with Nagarjuna starrer "Super" and went on to become top heroine with "Arundhathi", said no to the people who came to her with a proposal to start fans association. She said its ridiculous that I have any fans associations, I am still at the stage of learning in acting.

She commands an unseen demand in Tollywood. Even though she charges thirty lakhs for an item number, it is surprising to see that producers are lining up for her dates. IT firms in race for low-value US state deals

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:02 AM

Infosys Technologies, Wipro and HCL Technologies are among the software service providers that are laying foundation for the next round of multi-million dollar orders from the big UScorporations, by pitching for low-value, but politically important US state governments’ orders. Infosys, which counts JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley as clients for its services, bids for Arizona Public Service’s (APS) 400 positions, who work in its information-services department, and another 400 or so contractors to raise the staff strength for undisclosed amount.
Nine other US states, some from where politicians opposed offshoring work, are looking to outsource their healthcare operations worth over $2 billion, said Wipro chief strategy officer KR Lakshminarayana, and the company hopes to get a slice of these. Indian companies, which were used to contracts of hundreds of million-dollars at one go, are bidding for these low-value orders since their traditional clients are cutting down on technology spending and at the same time provides visibility, which would be helpful in getting big orders when tech spending recovers.
While the global government IT outsourcing market is estimated to be around $100 billion, experts tracking the sector said the US state governments could outsource projects worth up to $5-6 billion this year. States, which in the past opposed the outsourcing of work to Indian companies by the likes of Microsoft and Citigroup, are now turning to the same Indian companies, as their mission now is in line with that of the companies cut costs.

Why is a happily married man attracted to another woman?

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:59 AM

The elderly man is up to some serious investigation. A well-dressed but distracted middle-aged man is being grilled. A little later, his wife joins him. The conversation assumes some more seriousness though the elderly man tries to play it down with reasoning. The scene is being canned for Gentleman by Posani Krishnamurali who incidentally plays the middle-aged techie, the title role. Aarti Agarwal is cast as his wife. The elderly man turns out to be veteran character actor Kota Srinivasa Rao. His role is that of a scientist on the verge of inventing a medicine to cure a disease called EMR (extra marital relationship) that affects some men.

Posani, known more for his strong dialogues and eccentric political satires, has steered away from the beaten path and has come up with a family-oriented theme exploring man-woman relationships. Nallam Padmaja is the producer. Posani, besides scripting the movie, directs.

The protagonist is a software engineer and is a happily married man. He loves his wife; in fact adores her and is very caring. Like most men (or is it some?) after a blissful five or six years of married life, he is attracted to another woman. Still he loves his wife but is unable to live without the other woman too. No one knows why and how this happens. A very devoted husband suddenly finds himself turning into a Casanova. He is unable to figure it out too. Here comes the scientist to his rescue. The scientist too is concerned as the man’s wife is none other than his niece.

As he is explaining the genesis of the scene, the other heroine Lucie joins the actors. Posani explains her part and the expressions expected from her. She is a model-turned-actress from London, says Nallam Srinivas who is producing the movie. She plays a techie too, a colleague of the protagonist. Bowled over by the way she adapts to Indian traditions, he is attracted towards her and soon a relationship starts. “We have films on extra-marital relationships earlier but no one tried to explore why a man is attracted to the other woman when he has so much love towards his spouse. That’s what makes our film unique and different,” smiles Nallam Srinivas.

The film also introduces two new talents: cinematographer Anand C. Kumar and music director Mallik Sharma. The starcast includes Chalapthi Rao, M. S. Narayana, Raghu Babu, Surekhavani and Jyothi. The movie is slated for release in October.

The lithe girl said Sandalwood doors are opening for her after the impact of Aptharaksha in a suspense-filled character. “When the director is P. Vasu, the impact is much faster,” Vimala said, with a twinkle in her eyes.

Tendulkar wants top spot for India to mark 20 years

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 7:06 AM

CHENNAI: Sachin Tendulkar is hoping he can mark his 20 years in international cricket by leading India to become the world’s top ranked One-day team.

The premier batsman made his India debut as a 16-year-old against Pakistan in November 1989, since setting many batting records, including Test and One-day aggregates and hundreds.

India enter the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa starting next week as strong contenders after staying unbeaten in One-day series over the past one year.

They are third in the ODI rankings, just one rating point behind world champions Australia and South Africa going into the premier eight-team event starting on Tuesday.

"We definitely have the ability, the spirit, the desire, the hunger to get there (number one team)," the 36-year-old former skipper said on Friday.

"Playing cricket for India means the world to me. I grew up dreaming about playing cricket for India. I am living my dream."

Tendulkar underlined his continued desire to excel, scoring his 44th One-day hundred last week to set up a tri-series final win over hosts Sri Lanka in Colombo.

"It is going to be a challenging season, a lot of cricket," he said. "I wish we had more Test cricket, we only have three Test matches this season."

India’s best performance in the Champions Trophy was finishing as joint winners in 2002 alongside hosts Sri Lanka.

"We have to see to it that we live up to the expectations of the entire nation and get to where we as a team have targeted," he said. "We want to be there at the top, just go out and give our best.

"We’ve been working towards it," he said. "If you look at our performances in the last couple of years, it has been terrific.

"A couple of hiccups here and there are always going to be there," he said. "It is never going to be a smooth journey. That is what keeps us together." (REUTERS)

Rosaiah clears 415 files in one sitting

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 6:52 AM

HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Rosaiah on Thursday cleared a record number of files pending for the last few months. Sitting in the Dr MCR HRD Institute undisturbed for three hours, he is said to have cleared 415 files.

In fact, many of the files were waiting for clearance for long. At least three fourth of the files were to have been signed by Rosaiah’s predecessor Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. “The late YSR could not sign the files during the budget session. We were expecting that he would clear the files immediately after the end of the Assembly session. But his sudden death prevented that,” an official told TOI.

Rosaiah could not clear these mounting files in the last few days since taking over as CM as the political situation was not conducive. Since the stalemate is almost cleared, the chief minister asked the officials to submit all the files requiring the green signal from him.

So an exclusive “signing session” was scheduled at the HRD institute. Chief secretary P Ramakanth Reddy, CM’s principal secretary Jannat Hussain, special secretaries MGVK Bhanu and Madireddy Pratap were present in the meeting. According to sources, the meeting began at 4 pm and ended around 7.30 pm. Interestingly, the notable absentee in the meeting was YSR aide KVP Ramachandra Rao. Whenever such confidential meetings are held in the verdant institute under YSR, whether it was for clearing files or discussing the transfers of officials, KVP used to be present.

Opposition gearing up to attack Govt .

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 6:51 AM

The Opposition units are eagerly watching the developments in the Congress party, especially the leadership crisis. The happenings provide a chance for them to bounce back into the political limelight in the coming days.

Jagan is too young in politics so it may not be difficult to take him in elections. Naidu also knows that it is very difficult for the future CM to continue the ongoing schemes due to the alarming financial condition. This might be advantage to the TDP. As for megastar Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party, it is not sure whether he can take advantage of the current Congress situation. PRP lost its deposit in Tekkali recently.

There is a buzz that if there is a breakup in the Congress party due to the current crisis, one of them would rope the PRP into its camp and Chiranjeevi has been showing his inclination towards the Congress. Another party which is currently waiting to encash the Congress setback is the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

All these years, YSR was the only hurdle to the UPA government conceding a separate Telangana state and with him gone the TRS hopes to regroup with the UPA at the centre and put pressure on Sonia to grant the separate Telangana state.

However, the TRS is also facing a crisis with many of its own members said to be looking at other parties. Currently, the game of hide and seek has been happening in the state and while the people of Andhra Pradesh are enjoying the excitement, the underlying truth is that this would affect the progress of the state unless proper solutions are not adopted for the welfare of the Telugus.
