The Congress leaders owing allegiance to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Guntur district have demanded that a murder case be filed against Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao for allegedly causing the death of a Congress worker.

Taking strong exception to Hanumantha Rao’s comments of “bogus deaths,” the Congress workers in Guntur district burnt his effigies and staged a dharna in front of the Guntur (rural) police station demanding that a case be registered against Hanumantha Rao under Section 302 of the IPC for being responsible for the death of a Congress worker P Subba Reddy (56). They alleged that Subba Reddy died of heart attack after watching the unsavoury comments made by the Congress MP in the television debate.

Though the police did not book any case against the Congress MP, the incident shows how serious the situation is in the state Congress. So, from murder threat to murder case, it is a troubled time for

Jagan says he is pained at the threats

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 8:46 AM

The Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, around whom the politics are running, said he was pained at the resignation and other threats being issued by some of the MLAs and Ministers in his support. He wrote an open letter to all his supporters on Wednesday, in which he wanted the party leaders and cadre to leave the decision (of making him as the Chief Minister) to the high command.

Jagan said the party high command was aware of the reality in the State and expressed confidence that the high command would take right and acceptable decision.

He said every attempt to harm the interests of the party would also be considered as insult to late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. He wanted every leader to restrain from causing damage to the party and wait for the high command to act on the issue.

He also appealed to the party cadre to extend support to the leadership in the membership drive. Jagan is likely to join the membership drive in Kadapa on October 2.

Though Jagan did not make his mind clear on the demand for his appointment as Chief Minister, it is understood that he is also aspiring for the top slot. It is interesting to note that he remains non-committal on the issue which is rocking the State politics.

Rosaiah claims 41 MP seats in 2014

He said the Congress was able to retain power both in the State and at the Center because of Dr Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi. However, in Andhra Pradesh, the Congress got benefited mostly because of the leadership of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy, he said and added that Dr Reddy was able to retain power for the party against all odds.

He said Dr Reddy’s hard work was now visible in the election of five zilla parishad chairmen for the Congress in the State, besides the victory at Tekkali.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government would continue it the welfare programmes initiated by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. He said he would not stop even a single welfare programme of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.

However, Rosaiah refused to comment on the statements of Rajya Sabha member, V Hanumantha Rao. He said the high command would take care of the statements and counter statements, while he was concentrating on the administration.

Interestingly, Rosaiah is getting greater support from several quarters of the Congress and it is to be seen whether he would be able to complete the term or would be asked to vacate the seat before he sits comfortably in the seat.

Aamir, Hrithik to work together?

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 8:44 AM

Ghajini producers Allu Arvind and Madhu Mantena are going to make a Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster Magadheera and they are reportedly considering Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan to play the main leads.

"Yes Allu Arvind and I are remaking Magadheera in Hindi. As for the cast, it's too early to talk about it. But Magadheera is definitely being planned to be bigger than Ghajini," said Mantena.

Released in July this year, Magadheera has already grossed over Rs 65 crore in India alone and is said to be the second-biggest Telugu hit after Ghajini.

With this Telugu remake into Hindi that is expected to take off early next year, Arvind and Mantena hope to raise the bar for action-drama cinema in Hindi once again.

The remake, to be budgeted at Rs 70 crore, is highly ambitious. While in the original, which is set in 17th century and present, the hero Ram Charan Teja plays a double role, the remake will split the hero's personality into two parts. Apparently Hrithik will play the samurai from the Middle Ages while Aamir will play his present day avatar.

Sallu-Aamir join hands against SRK

The Khans are all set to take their battle to a new level this season. According to Mumbai Mirror Salman Khan has roped in his new best friend Aamir Khan to walk for his line at the Couture Week. To be held in Mumbai, Salman is showcasing his foundation Being Human at the high profile event.

Khan already has Katrina Kaif walking for him, but Salman doesn't believe in keeping it small. Mumbai Mirror reports that Salman has personally requested the usually shy Aamir to walk for a noble cause. Ever since the release of Ghajini Salman has successfully broken the ice with Aamir.

Ironically Aamir and Salman had quite an uncomfortable working relationship during the making of Andaz Apna Apna.

Aamir's entry is Salman's counter attack to Shah Rukh Khan – who will reportedly walk at the same event along with wife Gauri for director Karan Johar. Both SRK and Salman are pitching for the show finale and the paper says that a final decision is yet to be taken.

But regardless of whichever Khan ends up walking at the Couture Week, this will be one hell of a treat for all fans.

Chiranjeevi knows I am not interested in politics

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 8:40 AM

He has been Tollywood’s favourite “family hero” for more than a decade. Non-controversial, reserved, suave and professional, Srikanth, who is known as a “producer’s actor” has created a record by acting in 100 films in a short span of time. While his upcoming film Mahatma will make him 100-films-old, Srikanth says that the numbers were never intentional.

“I began my career as a villain and played negative roles in my first 13 movies. After Thammareddy Bharadwaja gave me an opportunity to play the lead in One By Two, there was no looking back. After that a lot of scripts came my way and here I am doing my 100th film,” says Srikanth, who is feeling the heat before the release for the first time.
“I didn’t even realise that this would mark a big milestone of my career. It was only when my friends started telling me about it did I became conscious of the number. I wanted my 100th movie to be special. Since director Krishna Vamsi is a good friend of mine for the past 17 years, I asked him to direct Mahatma,” says the actor, who plays a goon who enters politics, only to learn about Gandhism eventually.

The star who is excited about the “different” role he plays, admits that he has been typecast in all the family entertainers he has acted in. “In the early days of my career, I did act in offbeat flicks like Nidhi and Gamyam, but they didn’t do well. On the other hand, the family-oriented films were blockbusters. After that, I have been getting only a certain kind of films. If this film does well, filmmakers will hopefully see a different side of me,” adds Srikant.
The actor also observes that he needs to keep up with rapidly changing trends in filmmaking and understand the pulse of the current audience. “If we were to make the yesteryear blockbuster Pellisandhadi today, it will be a flop. The industry has transformed from being hero-centric to director-centric. Unless a story is presented differently, it is tough to draw the crowd to theatres. Youngsters too are keen on watching only quality cinema and this is a good trend,” he adds.

With his acting career going great guns, there has been much speculation about whether Srikanth will enter politics like many of his Tollywood contemporaries, especially since he is a close friend of Chiranjeevi.
To this, the actor says, “I don’t know anything about politics. My relationship with Chiranjeevi is on a personal ground, I have no political ambitions. I am very shy and I can only act in front of the camera. Chiranjeevi knows I am not interested in politics and has never forced me to join his Praja Rajyam.”

This reticent attitude of the actor also reflects in the fact that he makes few public appearances. “I am not a party animal, I’m a complete family man. Whenever I have free time, I spend it with my family. My wife Uha who was also an actress, is my biggest support system. I’m happy being this way,” says Srikanth.

Sneha was in Trichy to participate in the first anniversary celebrations of a jewellery outlet. A huge crowd thronged the outlet to have a glimpse of the actress.

Caught among her fans, Sneha suddenly screamed that someone had pinched her. When her security guards rushed to her help, she reportedly told them that the miscreant was wearing a blue shirt.

Following this, the guards found one Suresh Kumar, a realtor, who was wearing a blue shirt and allegedly assaulted him. They later handed him over to the police. A case was registered and the man later came out on bail.

Swine flu scare turns a boon for Tirumala pilgrims

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 8:56 PM

Thousands of common pilgrims had a close darshan of the Lord on Friday as the rush dwindled for Brahmotsavams, primarily due to swine flu scare. What’s more, many of them could catch a glimpse of the expensive ‘Abhishekam’ darshan for the first time in their lives. Worried over the low pilgrim turnout at the temple for the Brahmotsavams, the TTD top brass directed officials to allow common pilgrims to have a close darshan, about 30 ft away, from the presiding deity instead of the usual ‘Maha Laghu’ darshan during which the devout could only catch a glimpse of the Lord from as far as 60 ft away.
On a trial basis, the TTD allowed nearly 1,000 common pilgrims during the time of ‘Abhishekam.’ This weekly seva when booked in advance costs Rs 750 per ticket, while under discretionary quota it is pegged at Rs 2,500 per ticket. However, it is difficult to even buy this ticket as the seva has been booked by pilgrims till 2025. “Thanks to the TTD officials, common pilgrims like us could witness the seva,” a pilgrim from Coimbatore said. According to temple officials, over 2.5 lakh pilgrims had a hassle-free darshan in the last four days.
Sources said because of the swine flu scare in metros like Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad, the flow of VIPs to the temple town for the Brahmotsavams has considerably come down. “However, the common pilgrims continue to swarm the temple in big numbers. They were lucky to have a good darshan of the Lord in the last four days,” a senior official said.

Congress culture exposed: Javdekar

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 8:46 PM

HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary and official spokesman Prakash Javdekar said after the sudden demise of chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the true culture of the Congress party was exposed.

Though there was a Chief Minister in the State, the Congress leaders were speaking about future chief minister. “None is ready to obey Chief Minister Rosaiah’s directions. He is unable to take any decision and the administration is paralysed in the State,” Javdekar said. Addressing a press conference at the party State headquarters here today, he took strong objection to Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar’s statement that there would be shortage of foodgrains and increase in the prices of essential commodities. “Such statements will embolden traders to jack up prices,” he said.

The Congress government could neither help the common man by controlling the price spiral nor the farmer by increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The BJP leader said that Congress should implement austerity as a way of life but not use it like a fashion statement. The Congress was speaking about austerity only in the context of prevailing drought, did this mean that postdrought, the party leaders would revert to their lavish lifestyle?” Javedkar asked.

The Congress leaders had forgotten austerity in public life after Mahatma Gandhi, while the RSS and other such organisations were still following Gandhi’s simplicity, he said

Women's organizations support Ramlath

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 8:45 PM

Heeding Ramlath's request to save her marriage from the clutches of actress Nayantara, several women's welfare organizations have been pitching support by way of letters and calling her.

According to Kalpana, Head of Jhansi Rani Women's Protective Association, it is wrong on the part of Nayantara to come in the way of a marriage which had been strong for 15 years.

“As a reputed actress, Nayantara has many avenues to shape hercareer and should not be the cause to break a marriage. Artistes like her have to set an example as every act is followed by scores of her fans. It could send wrong signals to the society,” said Kalpana.

Kalpana said this issue is no longer an individual's problem, a problem which has snowballed into an ugly episode. “Now Nayantara can no longer evade the issue and has to issue a statement that she has no affair with Prabhu Deva. Till that happens, we will resort to massive agitations and not allow any of her movies to be screened.”

This sensational news appeared in a popular evening vernacular.

YS Jaganmohan Reddy has visited his father's death place and paid tributes him. Later he has given an emotional speech in the meeting arranged for YSR memorial. He talked like he has full power to implement YSR schemes that cost atleast thousand of crores. It is very clear implementation of these schemes at an individual or MP level are not possible. Is he hinting that he will get chief minister chair very soon? Is it on his own or with the blessings of Sonia?

Jagan also mentioned that he would visit the families of YSR shock deaths very soon. This type of yatra might put lot of pressure on Congress high command and also it may become an unmanageble task for police to control Congress cadre as they are currently emotional and aggressive.

Jagan did not mention about Congress or Sonia name while assuring that he would implement YSR schemes or wishes. This is sending some strong signals to Congress high command and hinting that party MLAs would cross lines soon. Also PRP MLAs have welcomed Jagan at Nallakalva and this also a signal for future changes in state politics.
