Commanding the high command, Jagan style

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:35 AM

With the Congress leaders at all levels in Andhra Pradesh giving him the larger-than-the-life size image, Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy appears to have adopted a defiant and stubborn posture on the Chief Minister post issue.
He is learnt to have told KVP that gone were the days when the state leaders danced to the tunes of the Congress high command. “The party leadership should learn to respect the sentiments of the people and the workers at the grass root level. A few leaders in Delhi cannot dictate the destiny of the state, but have to go by the democratic principles,” he reportedly told KVP.
Jagan reminded that it was because of his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy that the party had survived in Andhra Pradesh and established a strong government. “It was not because of Sonia or any other leader in Delhi that the party had won the elections twice. YSR single-handedly steered the party to victory. It is a personal victory of YSR, which everybody agrees. Not only that, it was because of YSR that the party could get 33 MP seats, which led to the formation of the UPA government. Sonia cannot ignore this factor and neglect our family,” he pointed out.
So, the real high command is in Hyderabad, not in Delhi. Isn’t it?

Can KVP win battle for Jagan?

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:34 AM

Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had fought tough battle for five years to send his friend, K V P Ramachandra Rao to Rajya Sabha. Dr Reddy’s battle against the high command and the leaders from the State was so hard. However, he had won the battle for his friend and made him an MP and introduced him to the Delhi circles. Now the sudden death of Dr Reddy had put new burden on the shoulders of KVP. He is now lobbying with the Delhi circles to get the Chief Minister post for his friend’s son, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. He is having tough time in pushing forward the candidature of the young MP. His visit to Delhi these days is to lobby with the Delhi circles. But, the big question before him is whether he would be able to win the battle and make Jagan as the Chief Minister or not?If he loses the battle, it is certainly going to be a bad time for him and to the YS family as they would slowly be kept aside. Let us see what this Chanakya will do in the post-YSR era.

KVP, one man army now!

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:33 AM

K V P Ramachandra Rao, who is leading a campaign to install Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, left for Delhi today to resume discussions with Congress high command on the succession issue.
The Congress high command has, however, indicated that it is in favour of continuing status quo for now with K Rosaiah heading the government.
There is a huge difference between his last trip and this trip. During his last visit, huge number of MPs and MLAs were with him and also he was busy in talking and directing leaders from AP. Now, same hungama is not there and there are only two MPs with him. Anakapalli MP, Pabbam Hari is one of those two MPs.
By understanding the mood of Congress high command, leaders are slowly changing their voice and leaving KVP alone. That's congress politics!

The super star is busy shooting for Shankar’s Endhiran on one hand and on the other he has also been working on his first animation film Sultan...The Warrior which has almost wrapped up its work and is gearing up for release.
Why this exception? It is because the animation feature is directed by his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth. It is also produced by his daughter’s Ocher Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros and this could well be writing news pages in the history of Indian cinema.

Charan Honda CRV hit Them from behind

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:27 AM

HYDERABAD: Sitting helplessly in a corner of their one-room house in Noor Nagar area of Banjara Hills, this elderly couple appears shattered, completely. They had absolutely no expectations from life, except that they get two square meals a day. Everyday, both would set out for work to earn their daily bread and were leading a peaceful life. This was so till the morning of May 28.
Early that morning, both started as usual for work on their bicycle. As they were struggling uphill near the Indo-American Centre, a Honda CRV vehicle hit them from behind. The man behind the wheel was filmstar, Chiranjeevi's son, Ram Charan Tej, who was returning home from gym.
The star's son got them admitted to a corporate hospital at Jubilee Hills and, after treatment for bruises, the couple -- Bal Reddy and Yadamma -- were discharged. All this in less than 45 minutes.
"His men then took us to Sri Hospitals at Krishna Nagar. They promised to give us Rs. 90,000 as compensation, but less than half of that was given to us," says a grim-looking Bal Reddy. When the couple pleaded with them that the amount would just be enough for their medical expenses, they allegedly threatened them saying it was adequate and that they should not expect more. "They paid us Rs. 40,000 and promised to pay the remaining amount by June 6. So far, we have not heard anything from them," Reddy says as Yadamma shows her still fresh wounds. "At least we used to earn Rs. 250 to Rs. 300 by working everyday. Since the accident, we have been unable to move out. We are not able even to walk properly. The injuries have led to further complications," she says with tears in her eyes.
`Not after money'
"We are not after money. After all, my parents were leading a peaceful life earlier. But, is this cold response expected from the rich and famous whom we often see on television when they participate in blood donation and charities," asks Anji Reddy, the only son of the couple, who is also a labourer. He happens to be a big fan of Chiranjeevi, but that was so only till May 28.
"Even if they make the full payment, it will only meet their medical expenses, but what after that? As it is they are old and it might take another year for them to recover fully," is their neighbours' argument.
Even the Congress MLA, P. Janardhan Reddy, who paid a visit to them, promised help in getting the compensation amount. But nothing seems to have moved, at least till now.

Josh slips at Box Office

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:25 AM

Naga Chaitanya’s first film Josh which was highly expected at the box office has disappointed his fans. The revenue has been slipping since the 3rd day and is no where near the expected level. The reason the industry pundits give is that the hero was not given the support as Charan got in Magadheera. Music was average, heroin was noat glamorous and the theme itself was not commercial and the end result is an average film. We feel sorry that Naga Chaitanya’s first chance did not work hope the second time is better.

Jaipal ‘jolted’ by Cong MPs’ reaction

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:25 AM

Perhaps the Union Minister for Urban Development, Mr S Jaipal Reddy, has suffered the rude shock of his life on Friday when the Congress Members of Parliament (MPs) from Andhra Pradesh met him and, instead of supporting his candidature for the chief ministership, made an appeal to him to stand solidly behind Mr Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the son of the late chief minister, Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Against the backdrop of the Congress High Command sending signals that Mr Jaipal Reddy is also in the race for the top post in the State, the Friday’s meeting of the Congress MPs with the Union Minister has assumed significance. Though Mr Jaipal Reddy was counting on the solidarity of the MPs to step up his efforts to ascend the hot seat, the MPs on the contrary, appealed to him to support Mr Jaganmohan Reddy.
Those who met the Union Minister on Friday morning in New Delhi included Mr Kanumuri Bapiraju, Mr Sarvey Satyanarayana, Mr Gutta Sukehnder Reddy and the convener of the party MPs, Mr Ponnam Prabhakar. Minutes before the MPs were to meet the Union Minister, sources close to Mr Jaipal in Hyderabad strongly felt that the Parliament members were coming to express their solidarity with him thus brightening his chances for the chief ministership.
However, emerging from the meeting the MPs, Mr Jaipal Reddy is reported to have told the media persons that the MPs made a fervent appeal to him to back Mr Jaganmohan Reddy for the post. They even expressed the hope that the Union Minister would convince those leaders in the party, who are not evenly poised towards the candidature of Mr Jagan for the top slot.
What is giving credence to the reports that Mr Jaipal Reddy was shocked at the developments is that he too made comments that he had nothing to tell the media with regard to the new leadership of the Congress Legislature Party in Andhra Pradesh. “In fact, I want to remain in national politics for some more time and will strive to acquire a place in the South political scene as a good parliamentarian,” he observed.
The comments of Mr Jaipal Reddy and the observations made by these MPs after meeting him are indications enough that the hopes of the Union Minister to reach the hot seat are dashed.

Posani defends praising YSR

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:25 AM

Maverick film producer-director-actor and Praja Rajyam Party leader Posani Krishna Murali’s sudden praising of the Congress party and late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy came as a surprise to many in the political circles.
A couple of days ago, Posani issued big advertisements in the dailies, praising YSR and his immense contribution to the Congress. Perhaps, even the Congress leaders did not give such an advertisement. He described YSR as a visionary and an architecht of modern Andhra Pradesh etc. and that he was a people’s man. “YSR was the right choice of the people and nobody else could match him,” Posani said.
When media persons questioned him about his ad, Posani strongly defended it. “I don’t mind praising anybody who does or did good work for the people. In the past, I praised Chandrababu Naidu for going deep into coal mines to know the plight of mining workers. And if a leader does not do well, I criticise him. Even Chiranjeevi is no exception for it. I don’t have a double-tongue attitude,” he said.

'Better remain an MP, than Dy CM'

Do knot disturb Sush, Lara!

A source from the sets of the film said, “The icy vibes between the two actresses was palpable. There was no face-off as such nor did they speak ill about each other. All they did was greet each other with a customary 'hi' that too only when absolutely necessary.” Commenting on what made things come to a flash point; our source said that Sushmita felt Lara had a far more prominent role. “Sushmita clearly spoke about the issues, which were bothering her. She remained defiant despite explaining why Lara has been given more prominence.” Lara too had her share of complaints. “Lara felt that Sushmita has been given more importance than her in the film's promos, posters and the entire marketing campaign,” added the source. The unit tried their best to broker peace between the two ladies but they refused to relent. While Sushmita didn't reply to our message, Lara said, “There was no such thing. Sushmita is a lovely, classy lady and a pleasure to work with.”

Rajnikanth shows no interest in Rahul's call

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:16 AM

For the past one week, media circle has been doing some 'good table work' regarding Rahul Gandhi's Tamil Nadu visit and his proposed meeting with Rajinikanth. But interestingly, it seems that Rajini didn't show any interest in this 'meet' and as usual he is silently watching the drama performed by some unwanted troop around him! In fact the actor is nowadays attending most of the functions happening in the Industry as well as in public. But he is always tight lipped about his political entry.Yesterday when Rahul Gandhi met the media owners at Chennai, he openly invited Rajini to join hands with Congress Party. He also mentioned like this: "Anyone without criminal records may join the party and 'Rajini is surely not in the negative list'. So I invite him to join the party". Also he mentioned that his invitation to the superstar is 'open and unconditional'.But what is in the minds of Rajini fans and what they are thinking about this invite? Most of the fans say that Rahul's speech is immature and an unnecessary one at this juncture. A furious fan said, "How dare this guy talk like this at a press meet? He is surely not a matured politician and Rajini will never do a great mistake by joining Congress!"Rajini's fans community has been requesting their matinee idol to get into active politics for the past 12 years and the actor had assured them about a discussion on his political entry only after the release of Endhiran. So naturally they didn't like Rahul's invitation to the actor and wish that their Thalaivar would launch a new party after the release of Endhiran. On the other hand, the actor is not showing any interest in meeting Rahul Gandhi now. When someone from Congress party approached Rajini regarding this meet, he simply said that he is busy with the final works of his magnum opus Endhiran - The Robot!
