"Many ask me why I joined politics and then why I left it. I joined it because I was asked to and left because I was inadequate for the job," Bachchan posted on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com.The sexagenarian came into politics at the behest of good friend and former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. He contested the Lok Sabha election from his native Allahabad in 1984. Though he won by a huge majority, Bachchan failed to make his mark as a politician. He says it's a tough job to be a politician and admires those who have managed to stay put in it."Politics is a complicated world - a world where if you are unable to play the game, you would remain a novice and a stranger eternally. I admire those who have remained in it for long years. Admire the guile with which they steer their boats everyday, every minute. The ease with which they make associations and break them, reject foes and months later embrace them as dearest friends. It is a tough job."A job that I would never be able to do. I would never recommend it to anyone. But I do know that those that pursue this line, do so with utmost dedication and passion. Their dedication and passion is admirable," he said.Bachchan is currently in Singapore with his politician friend Amar Singh. The Samajwadi Party leader had undergone a kidney transplant there recently.

I used to keep a stick in my hand and straighten out all the colony boys if they acted smart. I used to be very short as a child and I was the monitor in school. Priyamani is Abhishek's Sister

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 4:30 PM

There are two theories doing the rounds. One is that filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s writers reportedly goofed. When they gave Mani a copy of the script of Raavana, a contemporary adaptation of the Ramayana, with Tamil superstar Vikram playing Ram, Aishwarya Rai playing Sita and Abhishek Bachchan playing Raavan, they forgot to include the very important character of Shoorpanakha. Shoorpanakha, who is Raavan’s sister, whose nose is chopped off by Ram in the forest according to folklore and because of which episode Raavan swears revenge on Ram. Now, Shoorpanakha is pivotal to the plot... could Mani’s writing team actually have over looked this detail? Seems improbable because Mani is known for his precision.A source from the South says Mani’s production team approached the current reigning diva Nayantara for the role of Shoorpanakha but she refused. Next they approached National Award-winner Priya Mani. Priya will play Shoorpanakha in the Tamil and Hindi versions, just like Aishwarya is playing Sita in both versions. Theory two on why many top Bollywood heroines who were approached for the role of Shoorpanakha refused it is because “no one wants to play Abhishek’s sister,” says a source. “Abhishek is a dishy actor, and not many actresses want to ruin their chances of being paired romantically opposite him by playing his sister in Raavana,” the source adds. Girls who refused to be cast as Abhishek's sister should recall Josh where Ash played Shah Rukh Khan sister, but she still romanced him very convincingly in Mohabbatein. After all it is just role play.

Ramcharan is a down-to-earth person:Dev Gill

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 8:27 AM

After Sonu Sood in Arundhati, the latest villain hogging the limelight in Tollywood is Mumbai’s Dev Gill.

The actor who’s being talked about for his performance in Magadheera.

Gill who has played a small role in The Legend of Bhagat Singh and some commercials, made his debut last year with Mohan Babu’s film Krishnarjuna. “When I walked in for the premiere, nobody noticed me. After the film got over, many of them walked up to me, shook hands with me and told me they appreciated my work,” says an excited Gill, who happens to be a fitness freak and owns a chain of fitness salons along with a restaurant in Pune.

So, how was it working with Ram Charan? “He is a down-to-earth person with no starry tantrums. Actors like SRK, Aamir and other actors have a huge fan following in Mumbai, but the audience scarcely go gaga over their heroes the way people here do. I was surprised to see the fans’ reactions every time Charan appeared on the screen. I’ve never seen anything like this before.”

'Chiru playing double game'

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 8:25 AM

Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi is playing a double game in strongly attacking the Telugu Desam party president N Chandrababu Naidu, while refraining from criticising the Congress in the K-G basin gas issue.

This was stated by TDP politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. Taking objections to Chiranjeevi’s comment that Naidu had no vision in the gas exploration and that he had failed to demand for the state's share in gas exploration in K-G basin, Yanamala said the PRP president had no proper understanding on the issue.

He said during the TD regime the exploration of gas in KG basin had just begun and so, the question of demanding for state's royalty did not arise then. More over, the TD demanded the companies involved in exploring gas for state's share and an agreement to that affect was also entered in 2000.

Referring to Chiranjeevi's demand for allocation of 50 per cent share for the state in the gas being explored in KG basin, the TD leader questioned the very knowledge of the PRP president on the issue and asked with what criteria he was making such demand.

He found fault with Chiranjeevi for being highly critical of the TDP while failing to expose the failures of the Congress on the issue.
