Despite a series of parleys between the Congress high command and supporters of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the last two days, there is no solution in sight to the succession tangle in Andhra Pradesh with both camps refusing to blink.
The party's offer to induct Jagan into the Union Cabinet has not enthused the Kadapa MP even as his supporters are still canvassing for his elevation as CM. Some of his supporters are planning statewide agitation to put pressure on the high command.
There are also rumours that Jagan, who is counting the support of roughly 120 MLAs, may split the Congress, form a regional party and form the government with the support of Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) led by Chiranjeevi and the MIM. The PRP has 18 MLAs and the MIM has eight. Majority mark is 147 in the 294-member House.
While things have not been that good on the political and morale front of the state, the film front seems to be doing okay now. The credit for that goes to the magnum opus ‘Magadheera’ and as per the latest reports, the film is all set to create history that will take ages to be broken.
Apparently, ‘Magadheera’ is said to be on its way to cross the Rs 65 crores mark in collections and this would make it the first film in south India to come up with such huge numbers. Also, the film will then stand next to the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Ghajini’ in terms of the largest collections ever made.
The Naizam area stands first with its contribution followed by Ceded area and there has been a good collection from Karnataka and US as well for this movie. All this has happened in just the first five weeks and only time will tell what more records this blockbuster will break.
Talking to media persons in Chennai after completing his three days visit on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi said that he is not seeing Jaganmohan Reddy as Chief Minister’s son. Rahul said that he would not consider Jagan as an ordinary leader but he has many credits to his success in political career. He said that Jagan has occupied special position in the hearts of Andhra people, particularly in Rayalaseema region.
Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress High Command will take a positive decision on successor of chief minister in Andhra Pradesh very soon. He said that the high command is seeking more information from party leaders by summoning them to New Delhi.
As the decision is yet to be taken by high command, it is not right time to comment on the successor issue, he said. He assured the youth that there would be no place for money, power or influence in the Congress hereafter. Leaders would be elected from among the youth and anyone could contest organisational elections. Rahul underscored the need to harness the energy of the youth, and said the Youth Congress had embarked on such an endeavour.
The bubbly beauty Genelia has ruled the roost in the south with her bubbly charm. She also made a great debut in Bollywood and is now one of the most sought after actresses.
Meanwhile according to source she has been roped in for a Hindi flick titled “Its My Life”. This flick is apparently the remake of Telugu hit “Bommarillu”. The movie was also a hit in Tamil as “Santosh Subramaniam”.
Genelia played the lead in both the versions and is now all set to rock the Hindi version as well. She is being paired opposite Hurman Baweja and before that, she is right now working on the new film with Shahid Kapoor which is slated to be a dance musical.Victory Venkatesh has been one star who is known for his penchant to come up with variety roles as much as possible. While most of the time, he has proved his mettle in family entertainers, he has also flexed his muscles in action treats like ‘Gharshana’ ‘Thulasi’ etc.
Now, there is news that Venky’s next venture would be ‘Ganga’ and this would be hitting the floors as soon as the film ‘Eenadu’ hits the screens. ‘Ganga’ is being directed by choreographer Amma Rajasekhar and Venky is said to be seen in a completely rugged role befitting the mass audience.
Though it has been a while since Venky has done such roles, the question amongst many is whether ‘Ganga’ will really appeal to the audience. Amma Rajasekhar has got a track record of disasters so it will be a challenge and interesting to see how ‘Ganga’ will flow.
