What’s Sonam wearing?

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 7:11 PM

Sonam Kapoor seems to have a distinctive sense of style, and she’s caught the eye of the fash frat as a trendy young actress

Which is why what she wears, especially in her Delhi-based movie Aisha, is often in the news. Some time ago, designer Rehane had said that she had designed Sonam’s western look in the film, but it appears that she has only contributed some of her outfits to Sonam’s wardrobe for the movie.

According to a clarification issued by the film’s publicist, Pernia Qureshi is the costume stylist for the ladies in the film, and three dresses from Rehane’s collection have been used in it. “She has not designed anything specially for the film,” says the statement. “Anamika Khanna is doing all the Indian clothes for the film as was decided from the outset. We’ve sourced clothes from several Indian and international designers, but the look has been designed by the stylists,” adds the statement.

Monika Bhattacharyya, the film’s publicist, also says that Kunal Rawal has designed for all the men in the film, including Abhay Deol

Kangna, who’s currently shooting for No Problem, says, “It was such an amazing change to not look or feel depressed for a role. Besides, the atmosphere on the sets is so light that you not only laugh on camera, but even off it.” Intense roles do take a toll on her.

She says, “Looking sad all the time can be real tough. By the end of the film you feel so drained, that you need to take off on a long vacation. But on the sets of No Problem, it felt like we were on a vacation.” Well, Kangna we’re hoping your fans will have as much fun watching you on screen, as you had off it!

Bad is good for Prakash Raj

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 7:10 PM

Prakash Raj, who made his debut with Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar, is all set to make a mark in Bollywood with Wanted

The actor has also played the villain in the Telugu and Tamil versions of the film. Boney Kapoor feels that after Amrish Puri, there has been no real villain in Bollywood, and Prakash Raj is perfect for it. He feels that after the success of Ghajini and after the release of his film Wanted, the trend of hero-versus-villain movies will be revived again.

Prakash plays Gani bhai in Wanted. The character is feared by friends and foes for his razor sharp mind. The film, directed by Prabhu Deva, is a remake of Pokiri. Prakash says that he wants to do different types of roles and experiment. However, at the same time, he has to do commercial films to fulfil his ambitions. He still remains the number one villain in South Indian cinema!

Priyamani to Marry Only Who Has....

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 7:09 PM

Ofcourse, cine stars too have their own desires. Some times they blurt out their wishes. Priyamani entered in to Telugu films with Jagapathi Babu starrer "Pellaina Kotthalo". Later she got good recognition acting with NTR in "Yamadonga" and with Nitin in "Drona". Currently she is doing with Jagapathi Babu in "Pravaraakhyudu". In an informal chat she said " so many rumours against me are making rounds in the industry. But I don't take them seriously. I will marry him, whom my parents choose for me. He should atleast have a foreign Degree. If he is a whiteman (a foreigner), it would be still better."

Dad's the world for Ram Charan

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 7:08 PM

Magadheera has turned Ram Charan Teja into a mass hero

And one of the special aspects of the film for him was dad Chiranjeevi agreeing to make an appearance in it. “I never thought I’d get him to do it as he was so busy with politics. It took me a week to convince him and he kept aside four days just to feature in the remix of Bangaru Kodi Petta. I’m glad that I starred alongside him for at least two minutes, if not in a two-hour film,” smiles Charan.

Apparently, the Mega Star was very moved by Charan’s portrayal of Kala Bhairava in the movie. “Dad hugged me so tight that I felt suffocated! He was very proud of me,” says the actor.

Why has he done just two films in two years? “Since I played a warrior in Magadheera, my character sported shoulder-length hair and a thick beard. The look couldn’t be repeated in any other film. Now, I’ve signed a bilingual with Bhasker of Bommarilu fame, which is a love story, and another project that is to start early next year,” says the actor, who will start his own production house soon.

Microsoft to release free security software soon

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 7:07 PM

Microsoft plans to release the final version of its free antivirus software soon, according to a note sent to testers late Sunday.

"The final version of Microsoft Security Essentials will be released to the public in the coming weeks," Microsoft said in the note.

Microsoft first announced its plans for the product, then code-named Morro, last November, at the same time the company said it was scrapping its paid Windows Live OneCare product.

Public beta testing of Security Essentials started in June, with Microsoft reaching its goal of 75,000 testers just one day after it issued a call for them.

On a personal note, I've been using the product on several machines since June, and I like the way--unlike other antivirus programs--it doesn't make a spectacle of itself, just quietly doing its thing. I often forget it is running on a machine, yet it did save my bacon a couple weeks back when I almost caught Koobface from a friend on Facebook.

Writ filed for early CLP meet

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 7:02 PM

Hyderabad, Sept. 22: A writ petition was filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday seeking a direction to the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, to direct the Chief Secretary and summon a special session of the Assembly to prove his majority in the House.

Mr Adey Ravi, a practising advocate in Guntur district, filed the petition. He urged the court to direct the Chief Minister not to take major decisions till he proves his majority in the house.

The petitioner contended that according to the judgement of the Supreme Court in Madan Murari Verma versus Chowdari Charan Singh case the courts can exercise their jurisdiction to avoid administrative and Constitutional vacuum and deadlock. While explaining the chronology of events since Mr Rosaiah was sworn in as the Chief Minister, the petitioner contended that there was administrative and Constitutional vacuum in the state. Mr Ravi told the court that Mr Rosaiah was not elected as the Legislative Party leader even though he belongs to the Congress and did not submit the list of MLAs supporting him to the Governor to show his majority.

Mr Ravi alleged that Mr Rosaiah did not make any effort so far to prove his majority in the House. He said there is a necessity to summon a special session of the AP Assembly to prove his majority. He cited the Supreme Court direction in Jagadambikapal versus Union of India case to support his contention. The petitioner argued that there was no provision for a temporary or caretaker CM in the Constitution. He also argued that the action of the Governor in not summoning a special session of the Assembly to prove the majority of Mr Rosaiah was illegal and contrary to the law. The HC will hear the case on Wednesday.

Chair is OK but not the chamber

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 7:02 PM

HYDERABAD, Sept 22 (TNN): The powerful chair of chief minister is OK but not the chamber, this seems to be bothering the interim Chief Minister K Rosaiah who is hesitating to move to the `C’ Block in the Secretariat where Y S Rajasekhara Reddy once administered the state.

This is nothing new to Rosaiah but it has become a tradition with most of the chief ministers in the recent past starting from N T Rama Rao. Climbing the wooden staircase leading to the oldest G Block in the Secretariat, NTR set up his chamber in the D Block soon after he took over as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

His son-in-law Chandra babu Naidu who dethroned him preferred to have his chamber in the third floor of the C Block instead of moving into NTR’s chamber. Of course as time would have it he ruled from there for nine consecutive years facing stiff opposition from the Congress.

Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who succeeded Chandrababu also shunned to occupy the chambers of Chandrababu and settled for a chamber in the fourth floor of the C Block.

With Rosaiah occupying the hot seat under tragic circumstances after sudden demise of YSR, prefers to continue the administration from D Block where he presently administers. Though Rosaiah made a statement that he would be moving to C Block on an auspicious day, it is still uncertain whether he would ask for a new chamber or not.

With the Congress MLAs indulging in power politics the dame luck of chambers should smile on Rosaiah to prolong his stint as the Chief Minister.

TDP seeks white paper on Arogyasri

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 6:54 PM

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam party has challenged Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to visit tribal and other areas to see for himself how diseases are taking a heavy toll on the people.

Addressing a press conference, TDP leaders -- K. Yerran Naidu and G. Muddukrishnama Naidu -- said Mr. Rosaiah’s visit to these areas would show that his praise of Arogyasri and his comment that the State was number one in health were hollow.

They wondered if Mr. Rosaiah’s claim was true then so many people would not have died from diseases like swine flu, dengue and typhoid during the last few weeks. They wanted the government to publish a white paper on Arogyasri, giving details of the quantum of amount that has gone to the corporate hospitals. Statistics show that only 1. 5 lakh people have benefited so far from a population of over eight crores. How could it be termed as ideal scheme? They wanted the government to depute all-party teams to visit the areas where people were affected by these diseases. They repeated their charge that the Ministers were spending more time with former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s close aide, K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao and his son, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, than in attending to their duties.

At a separate press conference, two other leaders, Umareddy Venkateswarlu and Kadiam Srihari said the party would stage dharnas in all district headquarters on September 25, protesting against the GOs constituting Indiramma committees to oversee NREGA. Demanding the withdrawal of the GOs they said these were undermining the powers of the elected representatives.

Meanwhile party sources said an elaborate exercise has begun to recast the Polti Bureau and the State Committee.

Rajiv Menon Going Ahead With Abhimaan Remake

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 2:12 PM

Rajiv Menon who introduced Aishwarya Rai in 'Kandukondein Kandukondein' is now making a remake of the 1973 Amitabha-Jaya starrer Abhimaan. Though Abhishek says the film is not exactly a remake of Abhimaan sources cite it's nearly the same.

The film was to be made with Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai but Abhishek stepped in the last moment. Cinematographer and director Rajiv Menon is playing safe this time, cashing on the husband-wife chemistry and resorting to a remake. It would have been rather interesting to have Rajiv used the couple for far more better script. As it is Abhishek Bacchan is a non-happening actor compared to his wife, wonder if the filmmakers really need to whip up an 'abhimaan' in Abhishek's mind

The government officials are reportedly "assessing" the script to ensure that Nehru's "friendship" with Edwina in the movie is not shown wrongly.

"Filming of Indian Summer, starring Cate Blanchett and Hugh Grant, has been halted while Indian government officials assess the portrayal of Nehru's "friendship" with the last Vicereine. Kamal Haasan Vs Naseeruddin Shah

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 2:10 PM

Like it or not but before the arrival of the film ‘Eenadu’ it was often said that Kamal Haasan and Naseeruddin Shah belonged to the ivy league of actors. They were unique by their own traits and gave several mind blowing performances over the past few decades much to the delight and hangover of the audience.

However, now a situation has arrived when both of them are being compared with each other. Thanks to the film ‘Eenadu’, remake of ‘A Wednesday’ the Bollywood flick which had Naseer in the lead.
Now, many have been comparing both movies and more than that, the performances by both the veterans. There has been a significant group which said that Naseer was way beyond Kamal in this movie. He had the right kind of voltage and the intensity which depicted the anguish of a common man in the right way.

On the other hand, many said that Kamal has got a larger than lifeimage of his and he was not able to fit the bill of an ordinary man. Also, the depth in his character was not portrayed say many whichresulted in a rather mild performance. All said and done, the fact that many agree is that Kamal is a highly talented actor and that cannot be undermined but when compared to the realistic and deep performances of Naseer things change. What is your call on this folks?
