In a recent 56th film fare award function it is said that Knowingly or unknowingly, Tabu insulted Shriya Saran as per the sources. Actress Shriya walked to Tabu to greet her, but tabu was said to be talking with a group around her. So Shriya waited for her turn to talk to Tabu but as soon as the Tabu got freed, another person caught her attention. Hence she didn’t acknowledge Shriya but walked away from her towards that other person. This has insulted Shriya. But when this entire episode was explained to Tabu, she asked, “Who is Shriya?” Well, that is bigger insult now. A mere overlook is ok when compared to ignorance of her name! Isn’t it?

Shriya rubbed the moral police of Chennai on the wrong side and found herself in the middle of a controversy centered on the attire she wore at the silver jubilee celebrations of Sivaji. The actress was wearing an off-white knee-length dress with a plunging neckline. On Sunday, the Hindu Makkal Katchi lodged a complaint against Shriya and sought police intervention to take legal action against her. In reaction to this, Shriya explained that she never intended to put Hindus or Tamilians, in an embarrassing situation. The actress expressed her regret over the same. Speaking over phone from Mumbai, Shriya said, "I respect the long standing traditions and culture of Tamil Nadu. I was in not aware of the repercussions that would arise because of my attire." The actress adds, "I was informed about the silver jubilee function while shooting for the Hindi film. I came directly from the shooting spot and I did not even have enough time to change into another dress for the function." She adds

The Telugu industry has been going through some really tough times over the past few years and it must be said that they have been reeling through some really terrible flops. Some of the most sought after banners and movies suffered big time at the box office and there was an emerging concern over the future.

However, all those fears are now said to be wearing away as a new wave of hits have been giving a new lease of life to the Tollywood folks. So far, this year has been quite encouraging for the Telugu film industry after movies like Arundhati, Kick, Magadheera, Anjaneyulu have come out with some flying colors at the collection centers. The presence of high profile technology and an element of strong message to the audience seems to have worked well for the movie makers and now many movie makers are said to be working on coming up with more movies so as to keep the revenue graphs going high.

That way, the outcome of these movies has provided enough oxygen to the industry and let us hope that few more hits come in the pipeline which would seal the foundation for many lives and also better entertainment for the viewers.

Saina knocked out of WBC tourney

India's campaign at the World Badminton Championship came to an end on Friday with ace shuttler Saina Nehwal losing her quarter-final match against second seed Chinese Lin Wang just a few hours after the mixed doubles pair of Valiyaveetil Diju and Jwala Gutta were knocked out of the tournament.

Saina lost her match in straight sets 21-16, 21-19 against her higher ranked opponent at the SAAP Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, in Hyderabad.

The Indian shuttler was leading 9-1 in the second game but squandered the chance to draw level and bowed out of the championship after a 39-minute contest.

Sania had defeated Lin in June to win the Indonesian Super Series title.

"She (Lin) was better prepared today. She was defending well. I made a few silly mistakes but I am happy with my performance. She played better at net and involved in more tabs and pushes which shows she was prepared," Saina was quoted as saying by PTI.

"I reached the pre-quarters in 2007 and this time I have reached quarters and I have beaten the top 10 players so I'm satisfied," she added.

Earlier, Diju and Gutta too lost their quarter-final match to Indonesian duo of Nova Widianto-Liliyana Natsir in straight sets.

Widianto and Natsir, seeded second and defending champions, beat Diju and Gutta comprehensively 21-16, 21 -14 in just 27 minutes.on courtsy with IBNlive.

Hundreds of 'harassed' husbands to attend 2-day meet today

Shimla: Hundreds of 'harassed' husbands from across the country would be assembling here for a two-day meet starting on Saturday to demand rationalisation of Dowry Act. and grant of custody of children in cases of divorce which they complained are “lopsided” in favour of woman.

President of Bangalore based NGO Children Rights Initiative for Shared Parenting (CRISP), Kumar V Jahgirdar said, "Over 200 tormented husbands from places like Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chandigarh besides Himachal Pradesh would attend the meet to chalk out strategies to fight for men's rights."

Several NGOs are working for rights of harried husbands also be present, he said and added that he started his NGO two years back.

He alleged that Dowry Act and majority cases of custody of children in the event of divorce are women-centric.

"The women take advantage of this and are indeed harassing husbands, who suffer silently for fear of insult," Jahgirdar said and added that in most of the cases of domestic violence these days males are the victims and the police do not register their complaint.

He said, "We would give a memorandum to Union Law minister Veerapa Moily seeking to make laws pertaining to marital discord gender neutral."

This is second meet of its kind. A similar event was organised last year at Goa, he claimed.

According to reports Boyapati Srinu has confirmed Nayantara as the lead lady in his film Dhanraj opposite veteran actor Balakrishna.

Namitha who is said to be a hot and happening heroine down south will be the second heroine in Dhanraj. The film is produced by Paruchuri Kirti on a whopping budget of Rs. 15 crore under the banner of United Movies.

Magadheera records 31.68 crores revenue within 14 days

Two weeks after release the cash counters are jingling along merrily for Tollywood's blockbuster hit Magadheera. In Nizam territory the film has grossed over Rs. 11.48 crores. In the Ceded region it has grossed 7.30 crores. In the Guntur district it has grossed 2.80 crores. In the Vizag it has grossed 3.02 crores. In the West Godavari district it has grossed 1.92 crores. In the East Godavari district it has grossed 1.75 crores. In the Krishna district it has grossed 1.91 crores. In the Nellore district it has grossed 1.50 crores.

A.R. Rahman, British university join hands

Indian Music maestro A.R. Rahman's Chennai-based KM Music Conservatory has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Britain's Middlesex University to conduct a programme focusing on blending Asian and Western music, said a press statement released on Thursday. Middlesex University, which offers programmes in music composition, music management, music performance, and jazz and popular music, may also look at opportunities to provide a collaborative three-year music programme. Rahman, who has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the university, described the collaboration as a great bridge between Indian and Western music. Meanwhile, A.R. Rahman will conduct a peace concert in January 2010 at Parramatta Park in Sydney, Australia, where many Indian students have been targets of alleged racial attacks, a press statement said on Thursday. The Oscar winning composer said the concert will be an attempt to 'reunite culturally and spiritually' in view of the racial bad vibes.

Nagarjuna’s makeup man Chandra is turning producer. He is producing his maiden film with heroine Anushka in the lead role. He is making an heroine-oriented film with her on his banner - Sairatna Creations. Chandra won Nandi Award for best make up work for films like Seetaramaraju, Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu. He has been working with Nagarjuna for a long time. Anushka who made her debut with Nagarjuna’s film has immediately given green signal to this project and it will commence its regular shoot from December 11. A new director will handle this project.

Geeta Arts bags Puli rights for Nizam

Geeta Arts, the production and distribution house that has just delivered string of super hits with Ghajini and Magadheera, has bagged the exhibition rights of Pawan Kalyan’s Puli. It has snapped the rights for Nizam area paying hefty amount. Generally Geeta Arts doesn’t distribute films other than its own productions. It has bagged the film as it is directed by S J Surya who gave career turning hit, Khushi, to Pawan Kalyan.

Puli is currently under progress and is expected to hit the screens in December. The film's release depends on A.R.Rehman who is scoring the music. Rehman is known for taking all the time for re-recording. So the final release date will be decided only in the November.

Shaam bags Telugu film paired with Tamanna

The negative role in Ravi Teja's 'Kick' has done the trick for Shaam, it seems. The handsome actor, who Was reeling under a series of lacklustre films, has signed up to play the lead in the Telugu film, 'Veedu Manavade'.

The film will be directed by Netaji on Annam Films International banner and Mallika Kapoor will be playing the female lead. The story of the film is about a small boy who is found on a sea shore. What happens to him when he grows up forms the crux of the story.

Shaam will be reprising his role in the Telugu original for the Tamil remake as well. The remake is set to be directed by Jayam Raja and will star Ravi and Tamannaah in the lead.
