The Congress Legislature Party is likely to meet on September 11 to take stock of the situation.

The AICC senior leader and Union Minister for Finance, Pranab Mukharjee, will be visiting Hyderabad on September 10, to meet the family members of Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. After paying tributes to the late leader, Pranab Mukharjee, will also meet the Congress leaders.

The AICC is seriously contemplating on successor to Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. According to the party sources, the AICC is seriously considering the candidatures of Union Minister, D Purandheswari and Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, for the post of the Chief Minister. The third option is to continue K Rosaiah in the post and made Jagan as the president of the APCC.

The AICC sources indicate that the party is seriously considering making Purandheswari as the next chief minister to clear the Telugu Desam decks. At the same time, taking into consideration the public demand in favour of Jagan, the AICC wants to make the Kadapa MP as the APCC president and thus satisfy the YS fans.

The AICC, the sources said, is seriously examining the two options as that would help the party win the 2014 Assembly elections. The young leadership of Jagan would keep the rank and file intact, while Purandheswari would help in continuation of the welfare programmes initiated by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.

However, the clouds would be clear by September 11, when the CLP meets in Hyderabad.

‘Roja’s entry spells doom for any party’

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:12 AM

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) women's wing president and noted south Indian actress Roja on Monday resigned to her parent party. Roja has sent her resignation through fax to the party office at 3.30 pm. She also thanked the party for supporting her for 10 long years.

She accused party leadership for its double standards in allotting party tickets in the recent assembly elections. Roja alleged that a section of party leaders were responsible for her defeat in the 2004 and 2009 assembly elections.

Though it is learnt that she is going to resign to TDP and all set to join Congress party, the sudden demise of chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy raised doubts about her leaving TDP. But, putting all the speculations aside she has resigned to the party.

Roja's resignation from TDP would be a setback to the main opposition as the actress is regarded as an articulate women leader. The Congress party will take her in or not is a million dollar question now.

However, Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) Mahila President Shobha Rani termed her as an ‘Iron Leg lady’ because when she joined TDP, Chandrababu Naidu was almost finished in the land mine blast planted by naxalites on the Tirupati-Alipiri highway. Even before her joining the Congress, one of the most dynamic Chief Ministers of AP YSR has lost his life in a tragic chopper crash in Kurnool district.

KVP convinces ministers

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:11 AM

The re-swearing-in ceremony of Rosaiah Cabinet would have become controversial but for the timely intervention of the high command and of course, K V P Ramachandra Rao, advisor to late CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

In the morning, a few ministers expressed their reluctance to be sworn in, as they wanted Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to be declared the Chief Minister. “I don’t feel like being a minister without YSR. I wish Jagan takes over as the Chief Minister,” minister D K Aruna said. Others like Jupalli Krishna Rao, Konda Surekha, Ahmedulla and P Ramachandra Reddy also expressed similar opinion. This led to speculations that some of them might abstain from swearing-in.

However, the situation changed by evening. The Congress high command sent a message to all the ministers through late Rajasekhara Reddy’s advisor K V P Ramachandra Rao that they should take oath. Minutes before the swearing in ceremony, KVP held a meeting of all the ministers at his residence and told them that abstaining would send wrong signals to the party cadres and that it amounted to defying the party directive.

Matrix star Keanu Reeves PLay as Rama, Movie Hanuman.

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:10 AM

The Matrix star Keanu Reeves will play Rama in an upcoming movie titled Hanuman, according

Gary Oldman (Nil by Mouth) will reportedly play Ravana, while Aamir Khan (Lagaan) has supposedly been approached to play lead Hanuman.

Search is still on to find an international face to play Sita in this movie reportedly being directed by Chuck Russell (The Mask) and produced by Uru Patel (Cyborg 2).

Shooting is reportedly expected to start towards the end of this year in Rajasthan (India), while the rest will be made in Hollywood studios.

However, the film reports have let Hindus in a fix.

Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA), said that if makers of proposed movie “Hanuman” intended to base the storyline on epic Ramayana, make references to it, or portray Hindu gods/goddesses in the movie, they would urge the makers to stay true to the story and the spirit of the timeless epic and other Hindu scriptures.

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that Ramayana was a highly revered scripture of Hinduism. Hollywood was welcome to make a movie about Ramayana but the final product should be the true depiction of it and not a fantasized or a re-imagined version to fit the Hollywood machine, which was likely to hurt the Hindu sentiments. Moreover, as Hinduism was largely misunderstood outside India, the distortion would add to the confusion. Hinduism was the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about one billion adherents and a rich philosophical thought and it should not be taken lightly.

Zed further said that Ramayana was an integral part of Hinduism and was held in such reverence that Hindus believed that simply reading/hearing of it showered blessings upon the reader/listener. Rama, the hero of Ramayana, was incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and was worshipped by Hindus.

Ramayana, an ancient Sanskrit scripture, consists of 24,000 stanzas, explores various themes, including human existence, concept of dharma, etc

Don't Compare Josh With Magadheera: Nagfans

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:07 AM

Ever since the film ‘Josh’ hit the marquee, many have been comparing it with the mega blockbuster ‘Magadheera’. Some even felt that ‘Josh’ would give a tough competition to ‘Magadheera’ in many aspects. But the result is out after its release. It has no muscle to compete or compare with Magadheera. However, Nag fans seem to think otherwise about the whole issue.

It seems they are urging that ‘Josh’ happens to be the debut film of Naga Chaitanya and so it would make more sense in comparing the film with ‘Chirutha’ which was the debut film of mega powerstar Ramcharan Teja. ‘Magadheera’ is the second one from Charan, they add.

But still, the trade pundits say that Josh has no comparison with Chirutha as well, as it hasn’t possessed required voltage to suit the targeted youth audience. Message proved as massage on the heads of many youngsters, say some.

Magadheera villain's wife is Telugu Girl?

Working with Charan Tej was good fun, reveals Dev. “He is friendly, sensitive and grounded. We hit it off quite well,” says Dev who is now busy learning Telugu from his tutors, and his wife is a “Telugu ammayi”. “My wife insists on talking to me in Telugu, so that I can learn faster,” he adds.

The onscreen baddie has been getting several offers to play the lead, but is hesitant to take them up. “There is fierce competition among actors these days and I don’t want to take up the role of a hero. I’d rather play negative roles convincingly,” he quips.

And if everything goes well, Dev might make Hyderabad his home. “If I continue to get good work here, I may move to Hyderabad soon.”

Preity does it for Salman!

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:06 AM

You would be forgiven for thinking Preity Zinta’s doing a Kajre Re in thissong
for Salman Khan’s home production Main Aur Mrs Khanna

Far from it, and the perky Preity doesn’t want any comparisons or confusion with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who shook her hips for father and son Bachchan in the 2005 hit Bunty Aur Babli.

Turns out Salman’s her buddy, and this is not an item song she’s doing for him, but a special number in the film co-starring Kareena Kapoor and Sohail Khan. “It’s an interesting cameo. The song’s called Happening and I agreed to do it because director Prem Soni is a friend. And since Salman has played Prem so often, let’s just say this one is for Prem,” the bubby actress said.

Prem (the director, not Salman) added, “Unlike Ash, who was just a part of Kajra Re, Preity plays an important role in the film.” Incidentally... ahem, Preity look’s kinda ‘happening’ because she worked out hard for the song. With two super fit actors in the film in Salman and Kareena, Preity forced herself to follow a special diet, take up a tough exercise regime and do yoga.
