Rosaiah is Chanakya, Jagan is Chandragupta

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:55 AM

As the high command delays decision on the succession issue in the State following the death of Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, Congress leaders are taking advantage of the situation and indulging in criticism and counter criticism.

Senior leaders K Kesava Rao, V Hanumantha Rao, Madhu Yaskhi Gowd and G V Harsha Kumar took the lead in countering the efforts of Y S Jagan camp and backed the candidature of Chief Minister K Rosaiah. They have even expressed their wish in public that Rosaiah should continue for the rest of the term in the office. These remarks have earned stiff criticism from the leaders belonging to the Jagan’s camp.

On Thursday, former minister, Konatala Ramakrishna, said Rosaiah would continue in the office only till Jagan is made the Chief Minister. He called Rosaiah as Chanakya, the shrewd politician of the Mauryan dynasty. He is also called as the Indian Machiavelli, who helped the emperor Chandragupta to build the Indian empire in 340 BC.

Now, Rosaiah is being termed as Chanakya, who is waiting to help the young Chandragupta (Jagan) to govern the State. But the big question is will this Chanakya help Chandragupta as he did for Dr Rajasekhar Reddy in the last five years?

It is also to be seen how far this Chandragupta will succeed in building his own empire rather than riding on the empire built by his father.

Bikinis don’t provide cover

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:52 AM

There is so much of hype about bikinis these days. Even before the film hits the screens, the bikini stills of the heroine are released to generate the much needed publicity. People talk and talk about it and the heroine who sported the bikini becomes headlines.

But the flipside is that all these bikini acts also do not save the film. If filmmakers think bikini scenes and excessive skin show are the sure-success formula, then they need to think again. Earlier the film buffs go to the theatres to watch these kind of films out of curiosity but now it is all out and people are not curious anymore. Probably that’s why when bombshells like Anushka, Priyamani and Nayanthara sizzled on screen in bikinis, their films Billa, Drona and Salute bombed at the box office.

Harshakumar is struggling for survival

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:50 AM

One of the young MPs from the State, G V Harsha Kumar, appears to be struggling for survival these days. He has been fighting against Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy since the day one of his election to the Lok Sabha from Amalapuram in 2004.

The reason is that his rivals, Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao and Undavilli Arun Kumar, have been sailing with Dr Rajasekhar Reddy right from the beginning. Hence he turned against Dr Rajasekhar Reddy following the logic that enemy’s friend is enemy too.

Harsha Kumar succeeded in establishing a direct passage to 10 Janapath (Sonia Gandhi’s house) by introducing himself as the MP succeeding late G M C Balayogi, the Lok Sabha speaker, who died in helicopter crash in Krishna district on March 3, 2002.

In fact this direct passage to the 10 Janapath had helped him get renominated from Amalapuram in the 2009 elections, though Dr Rajasekhar Reddy opposed his candidature.

Continuing the enmity, Harsha Kumar, picked up a negative threat to pull the legs of Jagan and that clicked for him better. All that Harsha Kumar wants is to be a national level politician for which he is now trying to by targeting Jagan.

Harsha Kumar had tasted several defeats in his home turf – West Godavari district – because of Jakkampudi and Undavilli. He lost the mayoral elections in Rajahmundry because of these two leaders and now does not want to miss any opportunity to scale the heights.

The irony is that Jagan’s camp is giving him (Harsha Kumar) chances to go up against the odds. While he gains, the Jagan’s camp is losing its credibility. It is high time that the Jagan’s camp restrain from responding to the provocative statements or issuing threats to the hostile leaders.

Why are they targeting Vangapandu?

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:50 AM

He reworked on his popular song – Em pillado veldamostava – praising Dr Rajasekhar Reddy’s welfare schemes like Arogya Sri, Housing, Pension and fee reimbursement.

TV9 Rajinikath was first to grill Vangapandu in his channel with his little knowledge about the legend and his contribution to the Communist movement. Interestingly, Rajinikanth had the support of a woman artist, Devi, who tried to project herself in much greater side than Vangapandu.

No need to talk about Rajinikanth. But, people should know Devi, who helped Rajanikanth in grilling Vangapandu is. This lady, originally from the CPI-M’s Praja Natya Mandali, provided training for artists to publicise Chandrababu Naidu’s Janma Bhoomi programme. She was paid several lakhs of rupees through the Andhra Pradesh Academy of Rural Development (APARD) and she lives in a posh apartment.

These people try to find fault with Vangapandu, who dedicated his life for the Communist movement and who penned several songs for the Communists and revolutionary martyrs. The movement had benefited a lot from his contribution, but nothing he gained from the movement.

A self-less peoples’ artist lives in the midst of the poor and does not have any TV anchoring or special programme to fetch him money. He never visited star hotels or attended parties in the star hotels. He never dined with the politicians or shared dais with political parties, unmindful of their ideology.

As an artist, he must have felt it justified to pen a song in praise of a leader for whom people around him were crying. He must have seen people benefited by the welfare schemes like Arogya Sri. He must have come across a couple of Communists and former naxalites who were benefited by these schemes and shared their feelings with him, which might have prompted him to write the song.

There is no rule that a writer who pens revolutionary songs should not pen other songs. There is no rule that a teacher should remain a teacher and should not become a singer or a painter. There is no rule that a bank employee should remain an employee and should not become a dancer or singer. There is no rule that a police officer should not become an artiest and a bureaucrat should not become a singer.

It is only this set of people (like Devi) who find fault with others in an attempt to cover up their blunders. Artists who live in the midst of people, the proletariat, are expected to reflect on the good and bad of the people, the proletariat. Vangapandu did the same. He responded to the agony of the people around him (proletariat – poor – lower classes) while persons like Devi are responding to the problems of the people (aristocrats – upper class – the lords and ladies) around them.

Vangapandu Finds Publicity With Sakshi TV

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:47 AM

For some reason, there are a few people in the society who crave for publicity and for that, they don’t hesitate to go to any extent. Now, one man seems to be fitting that list and he is none other than Vangapandu.

There is news that he has composed songs on YSR and has been roaming around the state singing them. This got a very high publicity in the Sakshi channel which many say has lost its essence as a news channel and is serving as a devotional channel for YSR and Jagan.

Meanwhile, Vangapandu seems to have been successful in his antics to fall in public eye and after having created noise during the ‘Magadheera’ episode, let us wait and see what more he will do in the future.

Rosaiah wants to change the Cabinet in October

The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, will fly to Delhi before mid-October to get the approval of the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, for a Cabinet expansion. On Wednesday, for instance, Mr Rosaiah told his staff working from D-block to move to sixth floor of C-block on October 5.

She says ‘I’ll never turn my back on T’wood’

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:45 AM

Latest youth icon”, “Bollywood’s bubbly star” and “the next Preity Zinta” — actress Genelia D’Souza wears all these titles and more with much elan. She may be a big name in Bollywood now, but the actress who attributes all her success to South movies says she will always be “attached” to Tollywood.

“I’m grateful to the Telugu industry. It gave me some of the greatest movies of my career. People from AP have supported me and showered me with love at a time when I couldn’t boast of any hit. Many South stars who made it big in Bollywood might not want to return here, but I’m too attached to Tollywood and will never turn my back on this industry. Since I’m not seen around too much, people have assumed that I’m too busy for Tollywood, that’s not true,” says Genelia, who was last seen in Sasirekha Parinayam with Tarun earlier this year.

Talking about her current Tollywood ventures, Genelia says, “I have already started shooting for Katha, which will be wrapped up this month. I will also be acting with Ram Charan Teja in his next movie.”

The actress, who is shuttling between Hyderabad and Mumbai, has three Bollywood projects in her kitty. Juggling between two industries may get tiring for anyone, but not for Genelia, who claims to be an expert in “time management”.

“I believe that if you work in an organised manner, you will never be pressed for time. I never waste time and I’m always punctual. I don’t crib about shooting for even 350 days in a year. I don’t party if I have to work the next day. You can, in fact, call me a workaholic,” adds Genelia, who says that she values the little free time she gets. “I ensure that I never work when I’m on vacation.”

The actress may have wowed audiences all over the country with her spunky act, but detractors claim that all her roles have the same “bubbly” undertones. The actress however claims that her next movie will shut all her critics up.

“No two bubbly girls can be the same. My character Hasini in Bomarillu and Sasirekha in Sasirekha Parinayam, may be both fun loving, vivacious girls, but they have their own distinct characteristics. Moreover, I’m in no hurry to grow up and I have a long way to go in showbiz. In fact, in my next movie Katha, I play an emotionally strong character. As an actor, it’s a role I have never done before,” says Genelia.

After her Bollywood success story, word is doing the rounds that Genelia charges Rs 2 crore for every Tollywood project. Rubbishing this as “rumours”, Genelia says, “I wish there was some truth to this report, but it’s not true. I can confidently say that I’m one of the most affordable Tollywood actress with respect to my remuneration.”

Will Salman star in this Telugu remake?

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:44 AM

After the success of Ghajini and the recently released Salman Khan’s Wanted, and the buzz that Allu Aravind is planning to remake his Telugu
blockbuster Magadheera in Hindi with Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan, it’s now Kick’s turn to be picked up by Bollywood.

Confirming the news, director Surender Reddy said, “We sold the remake rights to producer Sajid Nadiawala for a decent amount.” When asked if he was directing the Hindi film too, he replied, “They approached me, but I have other commitments in Tollywood.” While the Telugu film has Ravi Teja and Ileana as the lead pair, it is being speculated that Salman Khan will be playing the lead role.

Namitha is pinning all hopes on Jaganmohini

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:43 AM

Namitha is on an all time low. Her career in Kollywood is going nowhere as younger oomph girls are proving to be stiff competition. Her last four releases in Tamil, including Indira Vizha, on which she was betting big, sank without a trace at the box office. This has led to the trade doubting her capabilities to deliver a hit.

Her eagerly awaited remake of yesteryear Jaganmohini, said to be her comeback venture with state-of-the-art special effects and graphics and which was due for release in the last week of September, has now been postponed to Deepavali. Meanwhile, coming as a blast from the past, one of her early Telugu films Nayakudu, is now being dubbed into Tamil as Idhu Dhanda Sattam!

According to a source close to Namitha, “The film is a bit crude, but Namitha can do little to stop its release in Tamil. Her only hope now is that it does not release before Jaganmohini which is going to be a major break for her.” In fact, Namitha is pinning all hopes on Jaganmohini, a remake of the 1978 film starring Jayamalini, which was a huge hit all over south India. The modern version directed by NK Viswanathan with music of Ilayaraja has stunning special effects and graphics.

Remember? Anushka’s special effects film on witchcraft and sorcery, Arundathi, was a huge hit all over south. Now, the question being asked is whether Namitha can transform herself from being a sex symbol to a glam heroine with Jaganmohini.
Trade sources feel that if this film releases before Jaganmohini, it may affect Namitha’s comeback negatively.

ANR's MOvie "Pelli Koduku" going to Relese in few days.

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:41 AM

This is a rather interesting thing to know and here is the story. About 35 years ago, a movie by the title ‘Pelli Koduku’ was being made and this had the legendary ANR, Jayasudha and Thulasi in the lead. However, it was during the dubbing stage, the film got stopped and left on the attic.

However, the producer was quite attached to the film and now, after so many years, he managed to convince ANR to dub for his role. It seems that there are plans to release it. The producer we are talking about is Jagarlamudi Radhakrishna Murthy and don’t think that he is our very own Krish. They are two different people.

The film was directed by the duo of late K S Prakash Rao and Singeetam Srinivas Rao while the music was given by Chakravarthy. The dialogues were penned by Atreya while lyrics were by Veturi. Right now, the movie magazines are said to be coming up with ads and the movie is said to have been renamed as ‘Vachadu Vachadu Pellikoduku’. It’s strange but true.
