On Sunday, the Hindu Makkal Katchi lodged a complaint against Shriya and sought police intervention to take legal action against her. In reaction to this, Shriya explained that she never intended to put Hindus or Tamilians, in an embarrassing situation. The actress expressed her regret over the same. Speaking over phone from Mumbai, Shriya said, "I respect the long standing traditions and culture of Tamil Nadu. I was in not aware of the repercussions that would arise because of my attire."
