Vidya Balan, who made her debut with “Parineeta”, always maintained the homely girl next door appearance in most of her films. Though she tried western costumes in “Heyy Babyy” her pithy Indian look could not be concealed. So is the case with her makeover for the film “Kismat Konnection”.
But unconventional director Vishal Bhardwaj changed all that in his forth coming film “Ishqiya”. Vidya looks earthy, bold and appears in a totally new avatar. She is cast opposite Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah. She plays a role with negative shades and is filmed in scenes involving hot and passionate lip-locks.
Vishal Bharadwaj’s films “Omkara” and “Kaminey” have already demonstrated what powerful performances the director can extract from his actors. He did the same with Vidya Balan in “Ishqiya”.
