Hyderabad, Sept 15 (TNN): City Limouzine (India Ltd) Hyderabad one of India’s largest car rental companies which also ventured into chit funds business has closed down its office at Abids here on Tuesday. The Company authorities had to bring down the shutters owing to a series of mismatch of funds.The Mumbai based company is learnt to have mopped up substantial deposits by offering various attractive schemes. The company which also offers cab services started functioning in Hyderabad from July 2006. Soon it gained the confidence of 14,000 customers who deposited nearly Rs 100 crores . Panic spread among the depositors when the regional director of City Limouzine, M W Khan could not be traced any where in the twin cities.With a replay of the private banks fiasco playing in their minds, hundreds of depositors armed with deposit certificates and other documents thronged in front of the company’s office at Abids. They narrated their tales of woe to the media and also expressed apprehensions that they would lose their money. They said that they were "lured" by offers of interest rates.The police had to intervene to bring the situation under control. With little information forthcoming it was a panicky day for the depositors of City Limouzine.
