The Congress Legislature Party is likely to meet on September 11 to take stock of the situation.
The AICC senior leader and Union Minister for Finance, Pranab Mukharjee, will be visiting Hyderabad on September 10, to meet the family members of Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. After paying tributes to the late leader, Pranab Mukharjee, will also meet the Congress leaders.
The AICC is seriously contemplating on successor to Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. According to the party sources, the AICC is seriously considering the candidatures of Union Minister, D Purandheswari and Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, for the post of the Chief Minister. The third option is to continue K Rosaiah in the post and made Jagan as the president of the APCC.
The AICC sources indicate that the party is seriously considering making Purandheswari as the next chief minister to clear the Telugu Desam decks. At the same time, taking into consideration the public demand in favour of Jagan, the AICC wants to make the Kadapa MP as the APCC president and thus satisfy the YS fans.
The AICC, the sources said, is seriously examining the two options as that would help the party win the 2014 Assembly elections. The young leadership of Jagan would keep the rank and file intact, while Purandheswari would help in continuation of the welfare programmes initiated by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.
However, the clouds would be clear by September 11, when the CLP meets in Hyderabad.
