HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Rosaiah on Thursday cleared a record number of files pending for the last few months. Sitting in the Dr MCR HRD Institute undisturbed for three hours, he is said to have cleared 415 files.

In fact, many of the files were waiting for clearance for long. At least three fourth of the files were to have been signed by Rosaiah’s predecessor Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. “The late YSR could not sign the files during the budget session. We were expecting that he would clear the files immediately after the end of the Assembly session. But his sudden death prevented that,” an official told TOI.

Rosaiah could not clear these mounting files in the last few days since taking over as CM as the political situation was not conducive. Since the stalemate is almost cleared, the chief minister asked the officials to submit all the files requiring the green signal from him.

So an exclusive “signing session” was scheduled at the HRD institute. Chief secretary P Ramakanth Reddy, CM’s principal secretary Jannat Hussain, special secretaries MGVK Bhanu and Madireddy Pratap were present in the meeting. According to sources, the meeting began at 4 pm and ended around 7.30 pm. Interestingly, the notable absentee in the meeting was YSR aide KVP Ramachandra Rao. Whenever such confidential meetings are held in the verdant institute under YSR, whether it was for clearing files or discussing the transfers of officials, KVP used to be present.
