Serious business in the secretariat takes back seat

Uncertainty seems to loom large in the Congress circles with the High Command still keeping mum on the issue of leadership in the state of Andhra Pradesh. As a result, important matters pertaining to state administration are kept in abeyance. This is evident from the people visiting the state secretariat in the vain of hope of seeing their files move. The urgent files in the peshis of several ministers at the Secretariat are getting piled up and do not make any headway.

The ministers’ schedule during this week is read as follows. A handful of ministers are in their respective districts campaigning for Congress candidates in the ZPTC by-elections. As reported, the four women ministers - Sabitha Indra Reddy, Galla Aruna Kumari, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and J. Geetha Reddy - on Tuesday paid their homage to YSR at his grave in Idupulapaya.

Even after ten days after being sworn in ministers for the second time, most of the ministers are keeping away from their offices. The absence of these ministers is felt even in the review meetings called in by the Chief Minister Rosaiah.

The rest of the ministers present are busy attending either condolence meetings in their districts or holding discussions with K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, the close aide of the late YSR, at his residence to take stock of the latest developments in New Delhi.

To compound the problem further the Chief Ministers Office convened a meeting to endorse a new methodology to fill the vacant seats in the engineering colleges in the absence of Technical Education Minister M. Venkataramana Rao. Sources close to the minister reveal that the minister was very unhappy over convened meeting in his absence.

TDP Says state congress has split into 3 groups

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:56 AM

The TDP has alleged that the state Congress has become dysfunctional with the party headed for a split on three fronts. According to the TDP, while one front is supporting Y S Jagan as CM, there is another group which is opposing it while a third group is taking a neutral stand saying that the high command knows best. This line of thought is being propagated at least by tow leading regional dailies in the state with an attempt to weaken the Congress from within. But a Congress spokesperson rubbished the allegation and said that a young and inexperienced party like the TDP can simply never come to termswith the open culture that the Congress has and therefore gets mislead into thinking open debate as a form of dissent. The Congress party also dismissed reports that the CM is not getting any support bystating that Rosaiah is getting all the support that he requires form the council of ministers and MLAs in the party.

Kamal-Sridevi in Madras High Court

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:55 AM

Kamal Haasan and Sridevi were a hit pair in Kollywood – movies like 16 Vayadinele, Sigappu Rojakkal, Guru, Varumayin Niram Sigappu and Moonram Pirai, to name a few, showcased their abilities to lift the quality of the fare with their synergy and on screen chemistry.

By a strange coincidence, the two were present at the Madras HighCourt on Wednesday. Kamal Haasan, representing Raaj Kamal Films International, submitted his counter that there was no diversion of funds as alleged by Pyramid Saimira International Ltd. His verdict will be pronounced by Judge Rajasuriya today (Thursday).

Sridevi had better luck when the decks were cleared for the release of her husband Boney Kapoor's home production Wanted. Judge Rajasuriya chose to close the case as the parties came to a compromise after Sridevi deposited three crores before the trial court ahead of the stipulated day of Wednesday.

Should the verdict on Unnaipol Oruvanon Thursday go in favour of Kamal Haasan, it would be a double victory for Mayilu and Sappani – the character names of the lead couple in the silver jubilee hit 16 Vayadinele.

"Venkatesh Is A Down-To-Earth Person"

"I'm playing the role that Jimmy Shergill played in A Wednesday," says Ganesh Venkatraman. Eenadu is releasing on the 18th and he is quite excited about his work. Let's read what he has to say about his role in the film: "My role in Aakasamantha was inspired by Manmohan Singh and this one in Eenadu, I was inspired by Hemant Karkare. I met the director and told him that I would like to show my range as an actor and after a few meetings they were convinced.

We shot for around three months in RFC and lot of action scenes took place on the bike in Koti and other popular areas in Hyderabad and Chennai. The climax was in Pondicherry.
The film adresses one of the important issues of terrorism. The attack in Mumbai affected people's lives all over the country and left them scared. I feel there are lot of improvements over the original version, technically it's very superior. It is under two hours edge-of-the-seat thriller. I have undergone police training for a week and learnt a basic thing that it's not physical training that's important it's strategic training that will helpyou in the job.

It was an eye-opener, I don't wear uniform, am an undercover police. The scene where Hemant Karkare wears one bullet-proof jacket and a helmet had a tremendous impact on me, there is a identical scene wherein Venkatesh calls me up for one tough situation.
I had grown up seeing Venkatesh's films. He would sit on the sets and speak everything from cinema to spirituality, he's a very chilled out and a down-to-earth person. I just want to work with directors who mould me.

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 2:57 PM

FMCG major HUL, known for launching starlets popularly known as ''Liril Girls'' through advertisements for its lemon soap, is now charting a different strategyto tap family audience, keeping in tune with changing times.
Liril soap, which was recently relaunched, is now targeting a wider audience with the brand tailored to appeal to the entire family a change from the earlier times, when the likes of Karen Lunel, Preity Zinta, Tara Sharma and Deepika Padukone were made the face of the brand focusing on the youth segment.
While HUL did not respond to queries, the firm''s advertising agency Lowe Lintas said the change in strategy was prompted by the evolution that the market has undergone.
"In the last decade or so, freshness has become generic to the personal washcategory and, lime and lemony fragrances are being used by any and all brands. Clearly, the consumer and the market has moved on," Lowe Lintas Executive Director Joseph George told PTI.
"We also decided that in order to broad base its appeal (and fortunately our proposition allowed us to do so), we should make the brand appeal to the entire family," he added.
The idea was to leverage Liril's premium heritage and find a new consumer benefit in skin cleansing to make the brand relevance to its audience once again, he added.

Watch Mega Star Sheik ‘Chiranjeevi’!!!

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 2:56 PM

This is Chiranjeevi. That is needless to tell anyway. He hosted Iftar today for his Muslim friends on a grand scale. He was clothed in traditional Dubai Sheik style with the request of his friends. Indeed, wearing variety costumes in not new for Chiranjeevi. He did that several times while acting in movies. But this is a ‘political get up’ as many politicians tend to clad.
