More sleaze on display

What with shows like Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao showing high TRPratings thanks to some sleaze and sexy display of skin in them, more and more TV programs are depending on sleaze to get better viewership.

In this effort sex models are being roped in for reality shows. Big Boss3 has plans to include the likes of Sherilyn Chopra and Claudia Cieisla in their show. The reasons for this being obvious. Incidentally this show is being hosted by Amiatbh Bachchan.

More Sleaze means more TRP's, who wouldn't want to adopt this easy way to pocket a few dollars more!

Madhuri Dixit was chosen over a pricey Aishwarya Rai to judge a dance reality show...

It was a battle between two very popular actresses, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in which the former has emerged a winner. Madhuri has joined several Bollywood stars to judge the reality show, Dance Premier League. Our source associated with the show said, “Madhuri and Aishwarya were both being considered to be the judge for one of the teams. Aishwarya lost out to Madhuri as she quoted an exorbitant amount of money. The makers of the show couldn’t afford her and the scales tipped in Madhuri’s favour as she had demanded an affordable price.”

Madhuri’s manager Riku Rakesh Nath said he could not reveal any details at this stage and said, “The discussion is still on.”

However, Danish Khan, VP Marketing of the channel admitted, “Yes, Madhuri has been chosen to represent one of the teams.” He refused to comment on the reason why Aishwarya lost out to Madhuri and said, “I don’t want to talk abut the money involved but Madhuri is definitely on board for Dance Premier League.”

Our source said, “Madhuri was far more affordable is the reason why Aishwarya lost out on the show.”

Constables freed from washing clothes

The Andhra Pradesh government Thursday abolished the orderly system, a demeaning colonial practice of engaging police constables and home guards as domestic servants at the homes of senior police officers.
The government has issued an order, doing away with the orderly system that is prevalent in the police department.

The latest move came in the wake of death of a constable, P. Muralinath, under mysterious circumstances while on duty July 29 in Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The armed reserve constable was deputed to work as orderly at the Noida residence of additional Director General of Police Vivek Dubey who is the chief of OCTOPUS, an anti-terrorist force of the state police.

As the constable’s death exposed the feudal system and evokedpublic outrage, the state government constituted a high-level, three-member committee, headed by Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy, to probe the matter.

The committee which submitted its report early last monthrecommended scrapping the orderly system and replacing them with helpers, to be recruited separately, for posting at the residences of senior police officers.

The government Aug 25 also suspended Dubey and Abraham Lincoln, both senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, holding them ‘indirectly responsible’ for the suspicious death of the constable. Lincoln, working as Commandant, Special Armed Reserve, had sent the constable to Noida in Uttar Pradesh 'without competence', the government said.

It is estimated that over 15,000 constables work as orderlies at the homes of senior police officials in the state. In most cases, they end up working as drivers, cooks and gardeners and silently suffer the humiliation.

A clause in the Andhra Pradesh Police Manual allows IPS officers to engage constables and head constables to assist them. But, in practice, it is misused by most senior officers. The state has nearly one lakh strong police force, out of which 800 are top-rank officers, including over 200 IPS officers.

The orderly system was first introduced during British rule in 1861. In the absence of communication facilities at that time, the idea was to ensure that the services of policemen were available for the officer to act quickly in case of any law and order problem.

IT firms in race for low-value US state deals

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 10:02 AM

Infosys Technologies, Wipro and HCL Technologies are among the software service providers that are laying foundation for the next round of multi-million dollar orders from the big UScorporations, by pitching for low-value, but politically important US state governments’ orders. Infosys, which counts JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley as clients for its services, bids for Arizona Public Service’s (APS) 400 positions, who work in its information-services department, and another 400 or so contractors to raise the staff strength for undisclosed amount.
Nine other US states, some from where politicians opposed offshoring work, are looking to outsource their healthcare operations worth over $2 billion, said Wipro chief strategy officer KR Lakshminarayana, and the company hopes to get a slice of these. Indian companies, which were used to contracts of hundreds of million-dollars at one go, are bidding for these low-value orders since their traditional clients are cutting down on technology spending and at the same time provides visibility, which would be helpful in getting big orders when tech spending recovers.
While the global government IT outsourcing market is estimated to be around $100 billion, experts tracking the sector said the US state governments could outsource projects worth up to $5-6 billion this year. States, which in the past opposed the outsourcing of work to Indian companies by the likes of Microsoft and Citigroup, are now turning to the same Indian companies, as their mission now is in line with that of the companies cut costs.
