The talk is that Vishal took advance from Singanamala Ramesh. When the latter approached him for the film, Vishal got busy with some other film, which angered the producer and forced him to lodge a complaint in the producers' council.

Selva Raghavan was directing a film for Karthi, brother of Suriya, when the budget moved to 16 crores to 20 and then 24 crores, the producer gave up and Selva took over.
