The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, will fly to Delhi before mid-October to get the approval of the Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, for a Cabinet expansion. On Wednesday, for instance, Mr Rosaiah told his staff working from D-block to move to sixth floor of C-block on October 5.
In his Delhi trip is meant to give an impression to Congress leaders in the state that he has the blessings of the party high command. Once he goes for a Cabinet expansion, the message will go out to the party leaders in the state that he is here to stay.
Sources said a reshuffle is being contemplated to strike a balance. Dr D.L. Raveendra Reddy from Kadapa may be brought in as a strong "Reddy". He has been keeping himself away from the Jagan Mohan Reddy camp and has a good relationship with Mr Rosaiah.
Similarly, Mr J.C. Diwakar Reddy from Anantapur, Mr K. Jana Reddy from Nalgonda, and Dr Marri Sashidhar Reddy from Hyderabad will also be inducted as Mr Rosaiah’s nominees. He may also drop Mrs Konda Surekha and replace her with Basaravaraju Saraiah.
Sources said the Chief Minister will be making deft moves to consolidate his position after October 2, which would mark a month after the death of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy
