Im not a Child, Im 18 now!: Hansika

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 1:57 PM

The wait is over. Hansika Motwani’s finally free from constant speculation over her age.

When she was 16, many said she looked much older and that she was on drugs to accelerate the development of her body.

Others wondered how she perpetually remained 16. As she turns 18 today, Hansika quashes all speculation, saying, “People can say whatever they want. I was born in 1991 and am 18 now. It means being responsible and hard-working. I can drive now and start voting.”

She made her debut at 16 with Aap Kaa Surroor. But somehow she couldn’t shake off the ‘child actor’ tag. “Even when I turn 60, they’ll call me a child actor. But I’m what I am today only because I started out as a child actor. Now, I can do much more than what a child actor does,” she says.

Has she had enough of the ‘bubbly girl-next-door’ roles offered to her, owing to her ‘child actor’ image? “My life starts at 18. I can’t be tired of being bubbly already,” smiles Hansika. (TOI)

Vivacious Swathi seems overwhelmed after winning the Best Actor (female) Award at the 56th Idea Filmfare — South for her performance in the Telugu hit, Ashta Chamma. Even as congratulatory calls and messages pour in, she says like a true professional, “I am done with appreciation and I intend to return with a better performance.” Swathi has become a household name in Kollywood, post-Subramaniapuram. She claims to have received plenty of offers in Kollywood as well. “I have signed one Tamil film and I am essaying a significant role in it,” she informs.

Interestingly, at the Filmfare Awards function, she shared the stage with the team of Subramniapuram when they won the Award for Best Tamil Film. Ask her if she would have been more satisfied if she had bagged the Best Actor (female) Award for Subramaniapuram instead? “I don’t think so, although many colleagues asked me the same,” she reveals and adds “Doing a comic role is a tough job, but essaying a light-hearted role is challenging too. I wanted to change the perception that only serious films fetch you awards and honours. I’m glad I have been able to do that,” she smiles.

Victory Venkatesh has got a tag of family hero from many years. His films generally comprise soft love, mischief and family sentiments. But he does Gharshana sort of films now and then.

Now he is going to play a Don type role in the direction of Amma Rajasekhar. Nayantara may be playing the female lead and Nallamalupu Bujji would produce the movie.

The combination of Venkatesh and Nayantara is already seen in Tulasi earlier.

Who is Raavana’s Mandodhari?

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 9:01 PM

Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavana’ steals a lot of attention, both for good and the dark reasons. He is busy churning out ‘Raavana’, the bilingual project, in spite of lay-backs.

The director had at times remade epics into modern day stories ever since ‘Dhalapathi’ (story of Karna from Mahabharata). And inspired by ‘Ramayanam’, he is working on ‘Raavana’ with lots of diligence to bring it out as a masterwork.

As per his plan, for the Hindi version the characters based on Rama and Seetha is played by Abhishek and Aish while Vikram would play the shades of Ravana. On the other hand the Tamil version will have Vikram replacing Abhishek’s role and would pair up with Aish. Prithiviraj would play the baddie in this version. We are also aware that Priyamani is roped in for the role of ‘Surpanagai’ for both the versions.

But, for quite some time there is a delay in fixing up an actress for the role of Mandodhari (Ravana’s wife). As most of us know, the gorgeous Nayantara has refused this juicy offer from the maverick movie maker. It was said that she turned down the role of Mandodhari as there was no glamour quotient. Guess what? A small birdie says that Mani Sir is now eying Reema Sen, for the same role. The ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’(Tamil) girl is still busy with the project’s patch work. But Suhasni Mani Ratnam had directly approached Selvaragavan and had asked for his permission to hire the lady for her husband’s project just for ten days.

Be it ten days or fifty days, will Selvaragavan allow Reema to cross his territory?

Nagachaithanya to be renamed?

Posted by SRINU GUNTURU | | Posted On at 11:41 AM

No, nothing of that sort- Nagachaithanya is going to be added with some other name - that is Yuva Nata Samrat- Nagachaithanya. This is as for the wish of Akkineni fans. Yuva is taken from Nag as Nag is no more youth and Nata is taken from ANR as he is no more in the industry (Not acting films).

When Charan can get Mega Power Star (Mega from Chiru & Power from Pawan) Why not Nagchaithnya- this is the argument of fans.

Actually , that stars are not interested with such tags before their names.
