Miss Venezuela, Stefania Fernandez, won the Miss Universe 2009 beauty pageant held in Nassau, Bahamas.

She bested young women from 84 countries, including Bianca Manalo, the Philippines’ bet to the contest this year.

Of the women from 84 countries, those who made it to the top five are the contestants from Dominican Republic, who is first runner-up, followed by Kosovo, Australia, and Puerto Rico.

Miss India Ekta Choudhry could not reach the finals of Miss Universe 2009. Miss India failed to make it to the top 15 in the Miss Universe 2009 pageant that began at The Islands in the Bahamas on early Monday morning.

Billy Bush and Claudia Jordan are hosting the event.

Eighty-three contestants are competing for the prestigious crown. The top 15 contestants have been announced, who will next compete in the swimsuit round.
